NARSOL: FL sheriff posts “blue & red house” map on Facebook, ignores threats to registrants

“I’m worried for my family,” he wrote. “Today the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office decided to put a picture of a map of all the houses where registered citizens live on its Facebook page. The comments that were allowed are absolutely disgusting.”

As I read the email, I could feel the fear that the writer was expressing. I’m the communications director for the National Association for Rational Sexual Offense Laws – NARSOL — and I frequently get emails from all over the country from people required to register on sexual offense registries. This one came from DeSoto County, Florida and had an urgent tone.  I located the Facebook page and found the comments that the Florida registrant referred to.

“Open season?” wrote someone named Josh and quickly had a response. “Where can we get tags?”

The response to that from the first writer is the most chilling of all. “They have their address on each location and they can’t own firearms so . . .”

Each of the comments is sprinkled liberally with hearts and thumbs-up memes, all indicative of approval. So in addition to the two men engaged in this exchange, there are a dozen or more like-minded individuals who expressed their approval of the rightness of hunting and killing fellow human beings who are helpless to defend themselves and their families because they are forbidden by law to own the means by which to do so.

The only people who should possess information about ‘dangerous people’ are the ones that society has selected to protect them: Police departments.

Nobody else should ever have access to this information because many people are too f*king stupid understand that not everyone on the registry is a monster.

Please Call and/or Message these f*ing heartless idiots:

I agree with Joe that only law enforcement should have access to RSOs personal and address information.
But I can attest that many cops are too f*cking stupid to know that we’re NOT all monsters. OR they enjoy being able to do anything to us without repercussions.

Cherokee, Roger, Dennis and many more on here. Seems like many are playing with their hindsight. Talking about dogs, barbed wire, noisy neighbors, Facebook charter, gossip and many issues that seem unproductive. Seems like everyone wants their cake and eat it too.. Seems like many are looking for protection from invasions of authorities when many should be looking for ways to end as much of this registry in a constructive manner for all.

Is Florida a disgrace as in many other states with this sex registry ordeal that has many paranoid to their own limits. Isn’t FAC still about truth and justice or is something wrong with a blue and red house map on Facebook. What is Facebook but a gossip column for fools and/or idiots. Is facebook the gospel of internet disruption or some pride of life excuse to compound another.

Sounds like many of you all posting on here are ready to orchestrate some blood and gut revenge which would be a downfall for all. Guess nobody heard of love your enemy or love thy neighbor. The registry is not an easy fix but all things are possible with the right measures.
