House overwhelmingly passes Smith’s newest legislation to combat human trafficking
“Today’s legislation will also reauthorize the amazing work being done by Homeland Security’s Angel Watch Center—a project mandated by my International Megan’s Law (IML) enacted in 2016,” said Smith, Co-chair of the Human Trafficking Caucus, which he co-founded 15 years ago.
“In just a few years under IML, the Angel Watch Center has made more than 19,000 notifications of planned travel by convicted sex offenders with more than 7,000 individuals who committed sex crimes against children denied travel, helping to reduce child sex tourism,” Smith said.
Does anyone know if this legislation targets those off the registry with a sex offense in their history, meaning background checks will be run on all America s if traveling internationally?
I have been travelling to South America several times since I got off the registry and no problems and I was one of the ones sent back from Colombia several years ago ! Now I’m a citizen of Colombia !!
How did you get off? My home registry is cleared but this darn florida one ……
I’m from Oregon so it was much easier !
Harsh laws against RSOs also increase human trafficking. A WI woman uses the harsh penalties for RSO to frame the men who get her pregnant so she can fly to the Netherlands and sell American babies there while the men await trial and can’t stop her from selling the babies. Is there a phone number to contact FAC to share the details privately? I can share the files I have. If someone were actually wanting to bring attention to this to make is stop, that would be great!
