Westlake councilman says there is no opposition to the 2,500-foot residency restriction

Councilman Dave Werner says that the Westlake, Palm Beach, city attorney says that expanding their residency restriction to 2,500 feet would withstand a potential court challenge from those who claim it potentially leads to homelessness.  Possibly the city attorney does not know what happened in 2014 in Palm Beach County.

The final vote is Tuesday, July 16 at 5:30 p.m.  Hopefully the council members will have met with much opposition by then.

Please remember to be cordial in all your communications with officials.

Westlake, Florida City Attorney:  Pam E. Booker, Esq.

    Planning Opposition.

    Councilman Werner,
I am contacting you about the city council special meeting scheduled for July 16th, 2024. Every American citizen deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, including citizens who may have convictions for certain crimes. Community planning is important for the overall health of any community. It is concerning that part of the planning is to exclude any American citizen with a conviction involving a sexual nature to be prohibited from enjoying a residential experience in the City of Westlake. Think about the families who will be impacted by the exclusion. Vote to keep the residential limits set by the State of Florida.

Sounds like government is creating its own laws due to this sex registry criteria. Protecting is one thing, Creating a situation for housing is another issue.Talk about liberty and justice for all. Government is abusing many in this sex registry
