WAR: Voters Repeal Ordinance Limiting Sex Offenders
Women Against the Registry (WAR) has published an article describing a successful legal challenge to a proximity ordinance in Windsor Locks, CT.
A person forced to register (PFR) filed a civil rights challenge to the town’s ordinance prohibiting him and others from being within the proximity of public services. His suit claimed he had a constitutional right to access those public services. The municipality’s counsel agreed that PFRs had these rights.
It was deemed that the town would lose the lawsuit. The costs to defend and then have to pay the winner’s attorney’s fees made the decision to repeal the ordinance straightforward. At least there, the application of critical thinking led to a rational outcome.
Lee County, Florida needs to be the next to repeal, in my opinion.

What is more pathetic is, the most powerful group of people in the United State, the Supreme court, is afraid to give us the relief and rights were are offered in the Constitution. Furthermore, they need to have the guts to speak the truth, that the registry is as punitive as probation, in some aspects and dangerous enough to put our families at the risk of violence or worse on a daily basis.
This offense had nothing to do with children and already someone thinks that everyone who has a sexual offense is going to go after children.
Although I applaud the lawyer who spoke to the issue on both sides of the matter, Lawsuits and constitutional aspects. The other side of the coin are the citizens who spoke for the ordinance and stating they do not care what it costs the city and that none of the registered citizens have rights once they have offended.
I do not remember reading in the constitution that if you make a mistake, you are banished for life at certain places, venues, locations, etc. After all, many of us have been off sanctions for decades without any violations or arrests. I wonder if any of those people think they are perfect and what secrets they have in their own past or even currently.
This was 2019, but worth a reminder.
