I just arrived in Georgia. I have to see the sheriff tomorrow and on the phone the lady didn’t seem all that happy that my conviction is old enough that they can’t tell me where I can live or work.

I have only watched the first 5 minutes so far, but fully intend to watch the whole SAD, SAD video. What this “Gentleman” is trying to say is pure BS. I just don’t know what to say. It is too sad that “civilized” people can do this. Somebody should ask them the old question, “What would Jesus do?” I bet most of them don’t even have a clue who Jesus was.

F.A.C article says the entire front of the D.L will have red lettering, this guy is only saying the statue would be in red lettering. I do not like either but just the statue is better than the entire texts on the front.
But even if they change it to just the statue, what is keeping them next time from changing all the text. Then maybe even adding the word sex offender under it. I never wish what we go through on anyone, but it may take one of them or their relatives to walk in our shoes to wake the Hell up to what we go through on a daily basis. And not just us but our families, who did nothing wrong, have to suffer as well.

I agree 100% with you Cherokee. It’s a shame only one of them gets it enough to speak against it , and only one more seemed to understand and vote in our favor

So why don’t they want to mark the driver’s licenses of others with special colors??
    Bright gold: Convicted DUI.
    Green: Drug Offense.
    Blue: Burglary/Theft.
Individuals with those offenses have much higher reoffense rates. 🤨🧐

I have said this before many times, but this man is the definition of what I have said in the past. “The more they get away with, the more they get away with”. This refers to legislation, laws, rules, ordinances etc.
I really do not even have a metaphor to compare it with, that is how baffling and concerning this scenario is. When I first got off probation, all I had to do was go register one time and then only if I had changes.
I believe since then in 1997, upwards of more than 100 add on’s have been snuck into the registry laws and ordinances.
At what point will we all be on house arrest while not on any sanctions?
Reminds me of the guy who moved his fence an inch into the neighbor’s yard. Over the years he got new fences and would move it an inch more until his fence was a foot into the other yard.

It is so wrongful of them to do that to Sex Offense’s driver license. They are really making that opportunity for those who wrongfully were charged with a sex crime they didn’t do to get their life back. I truly believe in second chances. The only way I have been able to keep up with life is owning my own business. It’s still hard at times when I want to travel. With others seeing that on the driver’s licenses like that one lady said at grocery stories and doctors’ offices. Now, to trying to rent. There is no reason for that to be on a driver license for a landlord to see. They do back ground checks, hany how. This is all messed up.

It’s hard to believe how the 16 who voted in favor of the bill are so clueless. It’s like the only thing they were looking at was who was doing the bill cause how everybody who spoke in favor of the bill had to mention how much respect they have for him. His argument was invalid I say this because his big point was so law enforcement will know if the guy is a registered person and the girl a potential victim or if it’s a dad and daughter. First of all when the officer runs the tag he would know if the guy was a registered person. And second even if the guy is a registered person it could still be a father and daughter third the fact that it’s already on the license so redundant to make the lettering a different color. The whole idea of it is to make it different so people look harder at it wondering why it’s a different color bringing more attention so that we are discriminated against even more then we already are………….. nope still not punishment !!!( sarcasm couldn’t be resisted )

Don’t forget the tax revenue since we will all be forced to go to the DMV and pay to have a new license.

    This will be number 53,
Notice that one of the committee members says that people who have committed these crimes must expect this type of punishment?

Notice that he called it punishment?
But that is illegal! They cannot add punishment. – It violates the prohibition against Double Jeopardy.

And yet her slipping up and saying that makes no difference because the courts already knows every single item concerning the registry is punishment. But unless they state that and get it tossed, I guess it is not punishment because that judge is not being punished, we and our families are.
The judges can get under their covers at night and sleep like a baby knowing that they made a difference, For anyone that is NOT on the registry. Makes me sick that they are afraid to stand for what is right instead of what is popular and gets you re-elected.

I don’t understand how they can get away with this. Here in Louisiana, it was struck down as compelled speech to have it branded on the driver’s license, so they had to remove it entirely. The Supreme Court refused to hear any appeal. Why are other states still trying to get away with this knowing there is precedent for it to be struck down?

This legislation tries to do something different than what Louisiana did.

In Fla the licensee already has either the statute for offender or the word predator emblazoned on them

We need to break these chains and start counting backwards from “53” !!. I mean it’s like they keep putting nails in my coffin. “53” is getting to close to the end. It’s like I only have a small air hole to breathe through. That guy, the one that’s trying to make our licenses stand out more in red, why did he have to come up with this BS?. He must be getting a feather in his cap or something. We shouldn’t have to deal with it, but here we go again. We are to far ahead, as far as knowledge to what we got to do to be happy and free from all stigma and sanctions. The registry has got to be abolished!. We definitely don’t need ” 53 “!.. When is it going to stop?.

I see where the Infrastructure & Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee voted 14-0 in favor of HB 1085 today. It looks like the last stop is the Infrastructure Strategies Committee which should happen by next week. Anyone know if there are any more steps after that before the bill gets signed into law?
