Valentine’s Day musings
Weekly update 02/15/23
Dear Members and Advocates,
Most think of today, Valentine’s Day, as a day reserved just for couples to honor their spouses, partners and sweethearts. But for those of us without a spouse, partner or sweetheart, we celebrate this day of LOVE in other ways.
We celebrate the feeling of being loved each time someone showed they cared about us. It may have been a friend who brought a meal when you were sick, a neighbor who gave you a ride to the grocery store, a stranger who smiled and wished you a good day, or that face-licking you got from your dog or cat.
Often, LOVE, is simply the warmth that we feel when we know we are not alone, and we know in our heart that people care. In the words of Helen Keller, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.”
What are you feeling in your heart today? What makes you feel warm and loved? How can you share that feeling with others? Is there someone you can reach out to today who may be missing the love of others?
Love is among the greatest muses, inspiring the world’s most famous romantics, like Shakespeare who wrote 154 sonnets dealing with love, time, beauty and mortality. The work of authors, poets and playwrights speaks to the enduring power of love across the ages of human history.
Here are a few LOVING thoughts for today:
– Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. –Lao Tzu
– Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.– Zora Neale Hurston
– Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love.– Leo Tolstoy
– I have learned not to worry about love; but to honor its coming with all my heart.– Alice Walker
We encourage you to LOVE your life today, love others around you, love your family of friends, and love yourself because you are a special human being and big part of the FAC family.
Buy yourself a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers, look in the mirror, smile, and tell yourself that you DO have a purpose, to show LOVE to all of mankind.
Sincerely,
The Florida Action Committee

‘Our investigation revealed a gaping hole in Utah law that allows registered sex offenders to go into parks, playgrounds, and swimming pools in homeowner’s associations among children seemingly without consequences.’
