USF offers sex offender course

The University of South Florida will be offering CCJ 4690 – Sex Offenders.

Emily Horowitz offers a course on this same topic at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY.  Horowitz says the students enter this course believing the myths, but by the time they finish the course, their view of people on the registry takes a 180-degree turn after having studied the research.

Good luck. I hope that it goes well. I worry that there will be those who will make this a political stunt.

After reading her book, I would think many minds may be a bit more open. I have hope that things like this will affect change in a positive manner. Very grateful she has put it all out there and now University of South Florida may be able to shed some light on this subject. We can hope for good!

I wonder if she’d like guest speakers. I’d be willing to help.

Same here. My oldest daughter attends USF and I am a PFR and certified paralegal. I would love to offer support/comment.

I would be happy to speak as a parent of a registered person, tell them how it’s affected us. Maybe someone will ask

The public should be made to watch a 6-hour video-conference of this course before being able to download the registry app.

They do the same thing with making a pregnant woman watch an abortion video before going through with the procedure.

I think that class should be taught in high school and GED programs.
