Sex offenders at Moose Lake facility launch hunger strike
At least 10 sex offenders held for years at a northern Minnesota treatment center have launched a hunger strike to protest conditions at the facility and a law that enables the state to detain them indefinitely beyond their prison terms.
A few of the men said they were prepared to be hospitalized from starvation if their demands are not met for a clear legal pathway for release from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP), which confines nearly 740 convicted rapists, child abusers and other offenders in prison-like treatment centers in Moose Lake and St. Peter.
The hunger strike entered its sixth day Tuesday and is the latest action by offenders seeking to call attention to a state-operated civil commitment system that has long been criticized for detaining too many offenders for too long.
All – this comment comes from our Troll.
All points of view are welcome here.
“Let baby rapers (sic) die” is not a point a view, though. It is a paranoid fantasy.
Did FAC post it on purpose for some reason? I really don’t see why. The opinions of “Monkey Man” and that ilk are worth exactly what those “people” themselves are worth (less than the pile of ashes that they should be).
If it was not on purpose, can’t remove it?
Just wondering.
The type of person running around that truly scares me……..critical thinking not part of the “makeup”………
Shame on this reporter for labeling these people as offenders. They are no such thing.
Monkey Man, you are hiding something that you are deeply ashamed of. I wonder what it is?
Excellent!!
It is so very sad that these US Citizens have to resort to a hunger strike to assert their right to Habeas Corpus.
I truly wish that I could be there with them in solidarity (I know, that is saying A LOT)!
We wish you well, brothers! May God bless your efforts to ensure the restoration of freedom to so many US Citizens who have been indefinitely and unconstitutionally detained!
Of the 740 housed there, “11 clients were conditionally discharged from the program after they petitioned for a reduction in custody”.
And “Only 13 offenders have been fully released — without conditions mandating supervision — from the MSOP in its 27-year history.”
“”I’m ready to die,” Geiger said. “I truthfully don’t see a way out of here.”” Wow, he is willing to die.
Yet the DHS states “In a written statement, the DHS said clients who “have the mental capacity to make such decisions may refuse to eat or drink, even when doing so may injure their health or endanger their lives.” Is the DHS saying suicide is legal even under their care?
We here all know this is wrong yet society accepts it. SMH
“Only 13 offenders have been fully released — without conditions mandating supervision — from the MSOP in its 27-year history…”
That their budget is based on the number of prisoners detained, excuse me, “clients treated” there has absolutely nothing to do with their usual recommendations that their prisoners, I mean patients need more “treatment.”
Also, thanks to FAC for leaving Monkey Man’s (an appropriate screen name if I ever saw one) comment. Really shows the ignorance and borderline retardation of some people.
But why allow subhumans like “Monkey Man” to comment here? No one ever needs to see stuff like that. There is no value. It is just brainless, worthless garbage from the same.
The ONLY reason that I could see for including such drivel is so that people can see what kind of trash exists in the world. But is that needed? I don’t think so. There are surely over a billion subhumans like that in the world. Does anyone not actually know that? If someone needs or wants to see such drivel, they can just go to web sites where the trash congregate. I don’t see any need to pollute a good site like this. It really is just pollution that gets in the way of the useful, moral content.

And I can site several occasions where I left a comment and it never got launched. When I asked about it, was told it either violated the code of conduct, was not relevant to the subject or some other nonsense. And yet we can be threatened with death.
Hey Troll, did you see my latest victory over Senator Book? You must be beside yourself right now.
Matthew 7:1-5 1
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3″Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Monkey Man, I cannot know what secrets you are hiding, but God does. I will not judge you but let the Father correct you. I forgive you on behalf of those you have wished to die.
For everyone else reading this, I use to ask to have these comments of hate towards of us to be removed, but now welcome them, as it shows just one of the hundreds of reasons the registry is punishment.
We have to worry about mentally unstable people who take the law into their own hands with all the information about us to harm us or our families.
