SB 1558 Dies on the Vine

One of the bills we were watching carefully and particularly concerned about was Senator Lauren Book’s SB 1558, which would create a “rebuttable presumption of dangerous” to one’s own child if the parent had a CP offense in their history. As of Friday, the bill was reported as, “Indefinitely postponed and withdrawn from consideration.”

Special thanks to all those who called and wrote their legislators in opposition of this bill!

    Firstly: Thank You Jesus!

This was only the second time I participated in a call to action, but I can tell that it does work if you call or write them. The more response they get, the less of a chance a bad law will get passed.

Secondly: I mentioned it before, we need better email addresses than what we have, a lot of my emails got returned to me UN-deliverable because of a bad address. If you need help getting the correct email, let me know and I will volunteer to help find the right ones.

I email because I can do it at night after work.

If we can get a volunteer to assist in putting together a proper email list, it would save A LOT of time next legislative session. It was an election year and a lot of new legislators came in, which means we needed to scramble to put something together.

and YES if we all come together and put forth the effort, we can make a difference. Someone once said, “with unity comes change”… wait… that’s our motto… OK, so bottom line is if we all come together we can make a difference. Whether it comes to calls or it comes to pooling our cash together to hire an attorney to file a lawsuit on our behalf, stuff we would not be able to accomplish on our own we can through our combined efforts.

I made phone calls after hours. I am nervous about talking to someone and this way I got to say what I needed to say without interruption.

      Way to go! Awesome news!

It is good to know that at least some of the FL legislator is not on board with the fear mongering (which is the whole reason Book got elected) that is controlling the general public. I am usually not this way but I am so glad to see her put in her place!
