What’s the worst that can happen to him? Seriously? Does he have a record? Are there any victims advocates attending his hearing?

Aww why? Gotta double with doctor on the idea its the meds fault not the drinking. Or as seen in video he has friends. Maybe she daughter should pass a DUI bill for registry and have daddy be 1st on it! That as they say is “protecting our chrildren” he can’t be near schools etc and 1000 ft from bars and liquoir stores. Hope family in other car get him good show that the guy and family has friends “use the people”!

Drunk drivers have hurt/kill more children than all those labelled as”sex offenders” combined. Pissing behind a tree never killed anyone and yet you can be listed as a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER FOR LIFE.

Yet – this hypocrite has no problem paying for a ridiculously overpowered and overly expensive racing car to drive around on the streets of Florida drunk!

Draw your own conclusions about how much Florida cares about “protecting” children – PLEASE – Wake up and smell the bullshit!

Not sure why we are posting updates on Ron Books arrest for DUI. If it was for a sex related crime ok. It’s been my experience that those who speak out against something the loudest, are secretly doing that very same thing. But not for DUI. Let him go through this in peace.

Ron Book feels that anyone who has committed ANY type of sexual offense CANNOT be rehabilitated and therefore deserves the shittiest life ever. Now let’s look at how many times this jackass has drank and then got behind the wheel of a car. So much for who HE THINKS cannot be rehabilitated. He’s a repeat offender of drinking and driving but will have the entire country believing that only WE are repeat offenders. That’s why he doesn’t deserve any peace.

Nope SOMEHOW he still has his drivers license.
Florida Statutes, Section 316.1932 provides that failure to submit to the blood alcohol test will result in the suspension of the person’s privilege to operate a motor vehicle for a period of 1 year.
His Driver’s license has not been suspended.

I guess that some are just too ‘good’ to be bothered by the law. Who can we check with to find out why his license has not been suspended? If it’s up to me, I’ll just take the question straight to the governor and Orlando Sentinel. I’ve never been accused of being bashful.

This is one of the many reasons why we should publicize this as widely as possible. I wouldn’t limit the scope to FL, but would see if the national news outlets might want to pick it up. There is general public outrage over this kind of class discrimination in a supposedly “blind” justice system. I think that if there is a lot of exposure, politicians and other elected officials might be less inclined to be linked with him.

Can FAC ethically disseminate information to the media outlets about this case? If not, who would be willing to submit a tip about his upcoming hearing and drivers license suspension irregularity?

@VLH, I agree. I predict either all charges will be dropped before the trial (plaintiffs/witnesses paid off) or this will go to trial so Teflon Ron can be fully exonerated. If trial by Judge, it will be one that’s in his pocket. If by Jury, it will be one that’s hand-picked by him and/or his cronies.

Dozens of character witnesses will show up and profess him to be a Saint. They will gush over all the “good” him and his daughter have done for South Floriduh, especially in dealing with all those horrible, homeless “sex offenders.” He will come out of this as both a victim of an over-zealous prosecutor and as a hero of the “good” people of South Floriduh. Sickening!

Since the DUI involved aggravating factors of: causing an accident and driving at high speed, there needs to be laws to protect children that restrict drivers from driving within 2000 feet of a school or playground. As well the horsepower of their automobiles needs to be limited to below 80. The Mitsubishi Mirage, comes with a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine providing 78 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque, a fine replacement vehicle for Ron Book. This would make Florida safer!

Exactly should have to have a monitor on their cars also can’t be trusted ever again todo the right thing and register all the vehicles they rent or own so they can’t sneak around for a drunken night out on the streets with us law abiding citizens that own up and pay for their mistakes.

Ron Book is very well connected. He knows everybody in the court system. DA’s & Judges almost kiss the ground he walks on. He has other very, very powerful and connected friends. Possibly even ones willing to do unethical favors for him on this. Even if convicted and sentenced to a little jail, it’s all a show. He will come out smelling like a rose. Aka win an appeal, pardoned etc. even if it takes a while. Look, he has retained his drivers license.. If that were you or I? Forget about driving any car for a very long time. He was drunk and crashed with injuries to human lives. Ron Book wins. Trust me.

I believe a judge would convict him if trial by judge a lot of judges actually have strong morals. I know personally some don’t. I believe a judge would give him prison time also for going to trial when he knows he was guilty and didn’t take responsibility his biggest hope is technicality which there’s tons of those for people with money or an open plea or reduced charges like reckless driving ect. Interesting anyway.

Dear Kevin, if you dont want to see how upset people are about the draconian laws the crooked Bookends have put into place to our detriment, then why do you even monitor or comment on this site? FAC gives us a valuable place to discuss serious legal issues or vent because we have fewer and fewer places to do so because of folks such as the Bookends and their ilk who abuse their powerful positions. Just like I did for decades in service to our great Nation, I support and defend your right to state your comments here…just as I support and defend the rights of others to do the same even if I dont agree with all of them. Maybe you should consider the rights of others to share their comments as well without scolding them for doing so.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Just let me ask you: did Ron Book commit the offense that put you on the registration list or did you? Yes his work, and that of his daughter, has made our lives more onerous. If spending your days sticking pins in little Ron and/or Lauren Book dolls blaming them for all your woes makes you feel better about things, then please go right ahead. But in the end, we have only ourselves to blame for being where we are.

          Hey Kevin,

It really doesn’t matter who put us on the registry or how we got there. I guess you’ve forgotten that KIDS are also on the registry for HARMLESS typical kid shit like nude selfies.
Ron Book doesn’t give a shit about us being homeless and won’t give a shit if weather conditions cause our deaths – HE AINT GONNA LET US INTO HOMELESS SHELTERS!
This site is public, but I’m pretty confident in my assumption that no one of any importance (politicians who make and uphold these bullshit laws) are even bothering to read anything on this site.
Furthermore, it’s irrelevant “who” put us on the registry and if we actually committed the crime that got us there. The point is that we’ve all done time be it prison or probation and when our time has been completed, we have a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to move on with our lives. But Mr Bookie doesn’t seem to think we should.
So please, let us vent. It’s really all we can do. Unfortunately.

Truth be known we have all done something at some point in our lives could have landed us on the registry. Some have been held accountable and some are hoping that they are never exposed. Just because we have had a failure in our life doesn’t mean we are supposed to crawl into a dark corner and not involve ourselves with improving the lot in life for all. Happy about our failure…not at all? Striving for justice for all…you bet? A timid approach when you are up against a loud mouth bully will only get you a ‘punch in the face’ and an invitation to sit down and be quiet. Polite, lawful, and respectful forcefulness and an ability to recognize when you are being taken advantage of is what is needed.

I guess you can speak in kind about not hating him when you have what clean sheets? No bugs or animals crawling over you.Well, Kevin have you ever been denied to shelter during a hurricane? These men and woman have I guess having love for ole Mr Books. is more acceptable when it is you who is not suffering in Miami I did not live in Miami but Orlando in the woods with fire ants and a makeshift tent for 90 days I save my money and brought me a ticket out of there. These men can’t! Hopefully if you looking for empathy perhaps you could visit the homeless camps that Mr and Ms. Books created out of their hate for us.

And the hate keeps spilling out.

I am NOT a fan of either of the Books. They may have written the legislation that has made our lives burdensome but it was the state legislature that passed those laws. And it’s the public that voted those state legislators into office. So who is really to blame here?

I would like to see him punished for the DUI but let’s be realistic. If anything he’ll get a slap on the wrist at worst. But the crowd here wants tar, feathers, boiling oil, and leeches. They want to see him out on the rack before being drawn and quartered with his severed head hanging from the I95/Turnpike overpass.

All I’m saying is there is a lot of ugliness and hatred in this crowd and I want no part of it.

And yes, I have been denied shelter, food, clean water, and unspoiled linens. I’ve been thrown out of jobs, harassed, had my homes vandalized, my tires slashed, my windshield broken, threatened with beatings and even had more then one death threat. So get off your high horse.

Joseph – I don’t think Kevin was declaring any love for Ron Book – I think he was just saying that the anger and frustration is not so productive. Kind of like the Michelle Obama quote, “when they go low, we go high”.

Kevin – I don’t disagree that the frustration could be channeled into more productive efforts. For example, for the same time it takes to write an angry post about Book, one can send an email to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving, asking why they are not screaming from the rooftops. However, you also have to take into consideration the fact that there are literally thousands who are rendered homeless because of this man. There are people dying because of his policies (literally two of our Plaintiffs in Doe v. Miami-Dade died – I kid you not!). For more than a decade we’ve watched him speak to legislators calling us “monsters” and testifying to statistics he pulls out of his ass, but we know to be completely false.

When we see this ass arrogantly going out and committing crimes (yes, this is not his first rodeo) – even ones that put lives at risk – and thumb his nose at the people he caused to live under bridges, along railroad tracks and on street corners, it’s frustrating.

There was a good post below about not wanting to be part of a hate-filled mob.

That’s where I’m at also. If we become that way then we are no better than Ron Book and also will have more trouble making our case.

Mainly what I want for Ron Book is for the public (and public officials) to understand is that when it comes to public safety issues, his credibility is questionable at best. I want his lobbying operation to suffer, not because I don’t want him to make a living, but because public officials have concluded he’s no longer worth their time. I want reporters to no longer view him as a reliable source. And I would like to see him resign from the Miami Homeless Trust before his term is up, and for them to sever their ties with him. Not as punishment, but because he will cause further harm.

I know that we are supposed to forgive and not let the sun set on our anger just as Jesus did and told us to do, but He was the Son of God and we are men. It is not always so easy for us as much as we want to. My mother spent her last days in an assisted living facility because of my arrest over draconian restrictions…four months of incarceration for saying “Good morning” on a public sidewalk to my neighbor’s son…with both the boy’s and his parent’s approval. It is people like Ron Book who put these and additional restrictions on registered citizens. I do not want to see any harm come to him, I just want him to be served up the same ‘medicine’ I would receive if I did what he did.

I see that Ron’s motions to challenge or suppress evidence aren’t getting him very far. If I’m reading the court orders correctly.

I say revoke his license til he completes drug and alcohol treatment. Then re-issue it with a “DUI history” stamp, as officers and liquor stores have a right to know.

Typical tactic of the powerful. Drag out the case until the arresting officer moves on to another position, case get assigned to another prosecutor/judge, the injured party gives up, and until nobody remembers the incident.

American “justice,” only for the rich and powerful.
