Registrant Killed at Daytona, FL motel, case investigated as homicide
A 69-year-old sex offender found dead Friday at a Daytona motel housing registered sex offenders was identified as Marc W. Pinder and the case is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
A state probation and parole officer doing a probation check found Pinder, a registered sexual offender, about 11:40 a.m. at the Speedway Motel at 3753 W. International Speedway Blvd., according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.
Pinder’s death is being investigated as a homicide, the Sheriff’s Office said.
So what does Sheriff Chitwood have to say about the deceased? Is he still a “scumbag” as Chitwood regularly says about RSOs? Or will Chitwood now say the deceased was a “victim” attacked by a “scumbag”?
Chitwood’s press releases, so far, refrain from even mentioning his RSO status, so there’s that.
Maybe Chitwood is feeling the heat from all his past schenanigans.
at this point here where he was just found what does it matter if this victim was a member of the hit list in the news or not other then being a victim of the hit list?
hell this victim could have saved 10 kids from a raging fire and it would be in the news headlines as sex offender goes after 10 kids in fire
Appears from News-Journal that he likely had information on others who’d victimized the same person. If I’m reading correctly.
Willing to bet that the sheriff’s office isn’t going to lose much sleep over this one.
Well I pray he is now at peace. Sadly it seems death is going to be the only way any of us are getting off the registry. I was discouraged when I learned the 20/25 rule of getting off the registry is not even a guarantee and the judge can still deny you.
Also I hope law enforcement treats this crime with as much respect and professionalism as any other homicide and does not just mark it as an unsolved case. The man was someone’s loved one and had the same right as anyone else to not be harmed.
I know it is not as bad as a homicide but every time I have been the victim of registry violence ( 4 times ) law enforcement told me to go online and fill out an incident report. Never got a single follow up ever. We are the red headed step children of society to them. ( No disrespect to all the lovely red heads )

“Sadly it seems death is going to be the only way any of us are getting off the registry.”
It’s Florida. Death doesn’t get anyone off the registry, despite the law that says registration is for life.
Dustin,
Point taken but when you are dead at least you won’t care anymore if you are on there. I guess you family still has to suffer though
Has anyone been charged yet for this crime. The news journal and Chitwood suggested that the roommate did it. But mostly the paper went through both men’s past rather than report anything related to the supposed homicide. Just wondering. The roommate was charged with a vop.

Good job by public defender. And testifying paid off.
But that leaves open the question: who was the killer? Did authorities botch this case?
