Petition to Declare Public Sex Offender Registration in the United States a Violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
Today, approximately one-million people in the United States are forced to register as “sex offenders”. The label leads to stigmatization, separation from society, loss of employment, loss of housing and even exposure to violence at the hands of vigilantes. The stigmatization extends to the spouses, children, family, friends, employer and anyone that associates with the registrant. The isolation, shame, stress, fear of violence, loss of income and other psychological effects are experienced by the entire household.
If we all continue to put these truths out there, it will eventually get to where nobody takes the sex offender registry serious anymore. It’s gotten beyond ridiculous. 😏
Hopefully, everybody will start paying more attention to the people around them, who are being nice to their kids. Those are the people that are much more likely to be true predators who are trying to prey on their children. Paying more attention to those people (the people around your children) has a much higher chance of truly protecting children from real predators. The sex sting operations and sex offender registeries are a distraction from the real threats. Personally, I think they just increase the risk of children being victimized because it gives people a false sense of security to think they know who the real predators are and that law enforcement is truly protecting children from being victimized by these so called named sex predators. Many child predators are very good at getting away with what they do. They become police officers, church leaders, teachers, etc. They’re not going onto Craigslist looking to hook up with someone or going into massage parlors for a happy endings, etc. Why would they do that? They have to maintain their appearance of being a good person. So, that they can continue getting away with what they do.
If law enforcement truly cares about catching real predators who prey on children and victimized women, they will start looking for them where they are known to be, not on Craigslist or other places like that, where people are looking for mutual agreements.
There is no way they are that ignorant about this stuff. All this political stuff that’s going on (sex sting operations, sex offender registries, etc) just makes it look like they are creating distractions on purpose to cover up for the real child predators and sex predators, maybe because they are a part of it. Maybe they’re doing it to cover up for themselves. 🤷🏻♀️
AWESOME!!
WHERE IS IT BEING POSTED????
“Megan’s Law says I gotta tell any girlfriend I’m a sex offender.”
I must have missed that part.
Video also glosses over the punishment…three months in county??? Not in Florida, try three years prison minimum.
The video also leaves out being called out to other inmates by guards and other nosy inmates and the constant fear you live in while incarcerated, and the beatings and killings of “sex offenders” in and out of prison. Not to mention the financial ruin and homelessness. More than likely, his mother’s house would not be allowed due to some 1,000 or 2,500 foot rule.
One more thing, for the cops to be tracking his IP address, they had to be the ones who were running the website with the child porn on it. Only “sex offenders” are not protected from entrapment or other illegal police activities. Sickening.
I have a particular interest in your observation about police running child porn sites. Although I wasn’t involved in a distribution sting, I was incarcerated with many who were. Research into federal statutes and case law resulted in a 66-page typewritten document describing the practices. This was ultimately scanned through OCR software, and turned into a PDF. It is not an unreasonable assertion to say police bear significant, if not primary, responsibility for the proliferation of child pornography and its inherent harm.
Police have regularly, and unlawfully, distributed child pornography since at least the mid 1980’s. There is nothing in federal law that provides an exception to distribution statutes for police. The problem is that the courts simply don’t care.
“Labelled a sex offender: this is my punishment.” If this PSA is being produced and/or promoted by the State of California, isn’t this an explicit admission that registration is punitive?
It’s not – it’s produced by CautionClick – another not-for-profit focused on CP
This video was privately produced not by CautionClick. The producer is a volunteer for ACSOL.
