Petition asking UN to investigate sex offender registry as a violation of human rights reaches 4,000 signatures

FAC Weekly Update #246

Dear Members and Advocates,

Our petition has broken 4000 signatures. It’s a number we are proud of. Considering we know how controversial our ask is, it’s also a number we are surprised to have hit. We know the number of people who open our emails and visit our website, so the number represents a large population of people outside ourselves who have read it and agree. It also represents the efforts that many of you have taken to help us get the word out, whether it’s been forwarding the link to your friends or family, sharing it on social media, or even putting up a flyer at the local coffee shop.

As we reach each milestone, it becomes more apparent that we have the possibility of reaching the next one. In the beginning, 2,500 seemed an impossible number, but we achieved it. Now that we’re so close to 5,000, that number seems doable. For the first 500 or so, we counted on ourselves, for the next 500, we reached out to affiliate organizations, and when we hit a lull we tried other mediums through which to get the word out.

That has made the difference between the last 1000 that it will take to get to 5,000 so much more meaningful than the first 1,000. The first 1,000 were already on board. The majority since have been educated. They have read our petition, considered it and signed on. By sharing the petition with others, even those you don’t think would be inclined to sign on, we are at least accomplishing our goal of educating people. Even if they don’t sign, at least let them learn a fact or two about the registry. Let it plant a seed in their minds. Let them pose it to their friends on social media to see what other’s think. Any exposure, good, bad or indifferent, is good for us at this point and is another opportunity to educate the public. We need these opportunities.

Please continue sharing the link to our petition with whomever you can. https://www.change.org/p/public-sex-offender-registration-is-violation-of-universal-declaration-of-human-rights. Let’s see if we can get to 5000 by the end of the year.

Can tort reform taper harms?

While doing research for our billboard project, I intentionally paid very close attention to the ads featured along Florida’s highways. I wanted to see what type of messaging was effective, was there a more popular layout and what tried and tested design ideas we…

Billboards

We’ve received a lot of positive feedback to our announcement of the billboard project. It was a lot more work than expected, but so is everything we’ve been trying to accomplish, so what’s the difference? We currently have three digital billboards running. Many of…

We have all been reading lately about the illegal hi-jinks of the FBI in harassing political opponents, showing up on political opponents with armed swat teams when a simple instruction to their various lawyers would have been enough for them to come in. Most of the laws passed against sex offenders are unconstitutional on their face. Our nation has devolved to the point where even the courts say nothing about these legislative misdeeds. And Sex offenders can probably expect no relief from these misdeeds because we are no longer a nations of laws, but one of which has no law except the man or the organization who has the most monied friends and will pay the most for his own private version of “justice”. My God! This sort of thing is in the news every single day!

God and Government can be a mixed bunch as we are to obey government unless it goes against biblical principals. While these registry issues are a somewhat human interest story in and of itself a bit of investigation is good for the masses involved in much of this registry.

We all need to do a bit more homework and press on in these issues whether on probation, parole or off of probation. Lifetime is a judgemental issue and we are not suppose to judge. Their are many pros and cons to these issues and all involved should press on in this liberty and justice for all.
