OUTCASTS Inside the community where hundreds of pedophiles live surrounded by gator-infested waters
HUNDREDS of sex offenders live in a 24-acre private, isolated community along a miles-long Florida road lined by gator-infested waters and surrounded by thousands of acres of sugar cane.
The community has been self-described as a safe haven for sex offenders who need a place to live because of the state’s laws that requires anyone on the registry to live between 1,000 and 2,500 miles from anywhere children might be.
FLORIDA’S SEX OFFENDER LAWS FORCE ISOLATION
Registered sex offenders in Florida can’t live within 1,000 feet of a school, day care center, park or playground, and can include other places where children frequent such as swimming pools, bus stops and libraries.
Some cities – such as Miami and Jacksonville – more than double the restrictions to up to 2,500 feet – about half a mile – which forced offenders into near isolation.
Why doesnāt the state admit they donāt want registrants living in Florida? Floridaās way of governing is an outcast because the state is truly insane. Sorry if thatās offensive, but itās how I see it.
Sheriff Staley and the Pasco and Levy county sheriffs openly admit they don’t want PFR’s in their counties. I think the state kind of likes registering political boogiemen (preferably those living outside of Floriduh, of course), especially when the feds pay them to do it.

Iām one of the out of staters and Florida can go suck all of the oranges and go be the Creature from the Black Lagoon
If only Florida had posted a big billboard at its borders to warn people forced to register that they aren’t welcome… I think it should be a required federal disclosure! If only someone had warned me before I bought a house in Florida how truly awful the laws against registrants are here, I would have avoided this state completely and spent my tax dollars elsewhere! I had no idea that I needed to research every law in every state prior to moving, just to make sure there weren’t more restrictive laws that would lump everyone into one basket and label them monsters, like Florida does.
Unfortunately registered people have to research any state thoroughly. I moved out of Florida and was still caught off guard by stuff after I moved here. Honestly I have considered moving back to Florida several times. If it’s going to suck anywhere might as well suck around friends and family.

Don’t feel bad. When I got off probation, I quit my job, sold my house in Florida and moved out to California. I did Zero research, just heard from someone that I wouldn’t have to register there. Bad advice. It was as bad if not worse so I moved back.
I figure if I am going to have to still endure it, might as be near my family who are in Florida in case I ever need bonded out due to made up registry law violations they keep adding every session. Registry is supposedly not punishment but do the slightest thing wrong like being a nano second late to register and the World changes for you.
Just know you are not alone, it is happening to all of us. It was retro actively applied to me as it did not exist when my incident took place.
Some of the cases involve an 18-year-old man dating someone who he thought was older but turned out to be 14 years old or a man who was seen by a child urinating in public, according to previous reports
Hardly what any educated person or psychologist would call āpedophileā. Why did they use the term āpedophileā in the headline? Is that what āsex offenseā translates to? The headline is not helping the matter, itās just feeding the flames.
Click bait for the goodie-two-shoes of society.
Maestro and Those Interested, the Term, Pedophile, is a Medical Term; Thus a Person Who May Be a Pedophile, Must Be Diagnosed By A Doctor of the Medical Professional
The Media At-Large IS Responsible For The Wrong Terminology;
For Example, The Media Called Epstein a Pedophile; This is Incorrect: He was Not a Pedophile; He was a Con-Artist!-and Boy DiD he Get Away with Everything!
I know what āpedophileā means. I never indicated that I donāt. Iām sick of it being used as the definition of āsex offenseā.
Maestro
That was exactly my first thought. Why is the article entitled ā-
– hundreds of pedophiles liveā-etc. then go on showing that is not who lives there.
Why didnāt they just come out and say those on the registry are not pedophiles at all but are being treated as if they were. Not only that but it shows that those with problems are easily corrected with simple therapy.

Pedophile gets the News story juices flowing and sells a story. I see so many dishonest headlines that I wish those people could lose their journalism licenses. What happened to “Truth in reporting”?
In prison, no matter what your sex crime was, you were a pedophile according to the other inmates. I guess it was “Cool” that they murdered an entire family over 50 bucks.
HA HA I can’t believe the proofreaders didn’t catch this…”because of the stateās laws that requires anyone on the registry to live between 1,000 and 2,500 miles from anywhere children might be.”
I guess anywhere East of OK city is out for us…Definately can’t live in Florida anymore.
I believe the Sun, even this US edition, is run by British people, and they’re worse about using the P word than even the US.
They’re also primarily a celebrity news rag like People Magazine.
This article was posted on the Drudge Report website, a hugely popular news site frequented by political and media people nationwideā¦ which itself is significant because the articleās tone clearly is critical of the Florida registry.
Oh and yes I am aware it says that in their article but there should be a notation that , that is a typo on their part
FAC
This HAS to be a typo. “1,000 and 2,500 miles from anywhere children might be”. REALLY? WHO typed this. It is feet not miles. If you couldn’t lived within 2500 miles then you could not live anywhere on Earth.
Please correct š
It kind of feels like miles sometimes, though. And, who knows, it might become accurate before long. Oops, hope my comment doesn’t turn on any new lights for that senator in Broward.
If you couldnāt lived within 2500 miles then you could not live anywhere on Earth.,, The way things are going 10 years and those numbers will be spot on.
I agree that it HAS to be a mistake in measurements…though it would be a conniving way of FL pushing PFRs completely out of FL all while forcing those in other states to register with them.
