OUTCASTS Inside the community where hundreds of pedophiles live surrounded by gator-infested waters
HUNDREDS of sex offenders live in a 24-acre private, isolated community along a miles-long Florida road lined by gator-infested waters and surrounded by thousands of acres of sugar cane.
The community has been self-described as a safe haven for sex offenders who need a place to live because of the state’s laws that requires anyone on the registry to live between 1,000 and 2,500 miles from anywhere children might be.
FLORIDA’S SEX OFFENDER LAWS FORCE ISOLATION
Registered sex offenders in Florida can’t live within 1,000 feet of a school, day care center, park or playground, and can include other places where children frequent such as swimming pools, bus stops and libraries.
Some cities – such as Miami and Jacksonville – more than double the restrictions to up to 2,500 feet – about half a mile – which forced offenders into near isolation.
How many of these higher than thou had a relationship with someone 14/15 when they were 18/19, so in their logic they are pedophiles also. Seriously how uninformed can a person get by calling someone a pedophile, while not knowing the definition.
Pedophile- attracted to minors that haven’t started puberty.
You can give a mouse a piece of cheese, but a dumb mouse will always fall the trap.
I have mixed feelings about this place. It’s been around for a while but I’ve never really looked into it very much. In one hand I think it’s good because it provides an option for some. But not everyone because they are also turning people with certain backgrounds away. It was a ministry outreach which it might still be, just weird to help some but not all. While the idea of just shoving all registered people into an area away from others really doesn’t sit well. Next time they close a military base, just use that. The infrastructure is there so that registered people could live, by choice, without the worry of vigilantes. Safe place for everyone I guess. But even that doesn’t sit right. The only good answer is no registry, or a police only one without residency restrictions. Not holding my breathe on any of it though
Crazy we as a society humanize animals in cartoons, tv, and laws while dehumanizing humans making people homeless, unemployed, hopeless, and putting people on a registry.
