Mental Health Screening.
May is Mental Health Month and today mental health is more important than ever. Our world has been turned upside down and we are all facing anxiety, loneliness, isolation and sadness. The challenges we face today are impacting, not only our physical health, but also our mental health.
During the month of May, Mental Health America is sponsoring the “Million in May” initiative offering free online screenings. The screenings are quick, anonymous and a convenient way to check up on your mental health. Visit www.mhanational.org/screening and choose from a variety of screenings.
Getting screened only takes a few minutes and increases the chance of getting help if needed. Please help Mental Health America reach their goal of a “Million in May” by getting a mental health check up and encouraging others to do the same.
Screening is usually as far as treatment goes in Floriduh. To the best of my knowledge, there is no free mental health treatment. I have a friend who was “Baker-Acted” and treated for one week at a facility where the police dumped him off. Once they discovered his insurance had lapsed, he was immediately discharged and pronounced healthy. Two months later he received a bill for $6,000.
America is in denial of a decades-long mental health crisis. How naive and wasteful she is in being the world’s moral authority, squandering trillions of dollars toppling “dictators” and trying to spread democracy & capitalism, while a majority her own citizens suffer from chronic mental and physical health issues. Yes, America does have the best health care in the world, but only for those who can afford it.
I looked at the options available and I do not believe I fall into any of the categories. I wake up each day looking forward to the day with a load of various projects. I usually go to bed at night tired but ready for the next day’s challenges. God has truly blessed me.
