Legislators make a fix in the law to aid in prosecution of DeSantis’ voter fraud cases

We are all familiar with Governor DeSantis’ press conference in Fort Lauderdale on August 18, 2022, when he announced the arrest of 20 people on charges of voting illegally.  These 20 people had been convicted of murder or a felony sexual offense.

The state had cleared these 20 individuals to join the voter rolls, and all were issued voter ID cards.

According to the Miami Herald, some cases were dismissed by three judges since “statewide prosecutors, who report to Attorney General Ashley Moody, are restricted to charging people whose crimes cross multiple jurisdictions, such as someone selling drugs in multiple counties.”

With legal challenges mounting over DeSantis’ voter fraud cases, the Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 4B on Friday enabling statewide prosecutors the authority to bring about voter registration charges.

Some would say that the only voter fraud in Florida is the taxation without representation.
