Justice Department Announces Almost $18 Million In Awards To Support Sex Offender Registration, Assessment, Intervention

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Today the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) awarded almost $18 million to implement and enhance sex offender programming throughout the United States.

“We have made tremendous strides over the last decade toward building a comprehensive sex offender registration and notification system,” said Director Luis C. deBaca, Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering and Tracking (SMART Office). “The new awards take our efforts to the next stage, giving our state, local and tribal partners evidence-based tools and technologies that will enhance their capacity to manage sex offenders and protect citizens.”

More than $9.8 million will be used to develop or enhance sex offender registration programs; improve law enforcement and other justice agency information sharing as it relates to sex offender registration and notification; and implement other efforts that further the objectives of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), Title I of the Adam Walsh Act.  The Adam Walsh Act, signed into law July 27, 2006, is designed to protect children and adults from sexual exploitation and violent crime, prevent child abuse and child pornography, promote Internet safety and honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other crime victims. SORNA established a comprehensive national system for the registration and public naming of convicted sex offenders.

We should be used to it by now. We gain one victory, just to see another loss follow shortly. This just goes to show you that the govt gives lip service to groups that want to reform prison laws and post-conviction requirements for ex-felons and SOs. But when people put money to something, it shows where their real intent and motive lies. Once again, the govt does NOT want to help out citizens of any kind. If you look at the pattern, all they seem to do is increase surveillance over all of us, not just SOs. This is where this is heading. And notice, once again, it’s all done in the name of “security.” The govt doesn’t give a damn about child safety or anyone’s safety but their own. That’s why their building their own bunkers so when SHTF, they can go underground and be safe while we all perish. Just a small microcosm of a much larger sinister plan.

Interesting, isn’t it… they say they’re funding “evidence-based tools and technologies” while ignoring the evidence that the current scheme lacks ANY evidence of benefit.

Note well the end of the statement: “manage sex offenders and protect citizens”. Left unsaid is his opinion that we are not citizens with rights deserving of protection.
