Seems like a diversionary tactic now that Broward County is being sued of the proximity ordinance. I hope I’m wrong. But seems odd it’s all of a sudden happening now??

Broward County is not being sued. that’s BREVARD county. Pariah…

I’m not sure where to post this. My mom is 77 and I recently signed up to care.com to find her an aide , today I come to find that I have been removed from their platform for my past offense. Now I don’t know what to do. I need to find help for mom, but they are punishing her for my past history. Does anyone have any suggestions on what can be done ? I don’t understand how this is fair to do this. She’s an innocent old lady and they would deny her help.

      ONE WORD – P U N I S H M E N T !

Your Mom has to suffer because of your being on the registry? How is that fair to ANY of our Mothers, Fathers, our kids, grand kids etc.

Makes me think of the movie “Throw Mama from the train”. The reason, because that is what the people who keep causing our families grief over the registry are doing to all of our Mama’s.

Prayers and love to your Mom.

Can you open up an account with care.com through your mother’s name and do everything through her name?

The account was in her name , but I believe they do an address check. After opening the account they ask a bunch of “verification” questions and they seemed to know my past address’s and info, even though moms name and credit card was used.

Is this a trap? i saw on a show once where they invited a bunch of people with outstanding warrants to a seminar on how to better their lives and arrested them once they all arrived

      No Hope

Many years ago I saw that on the news. I cannot remember what Florida county it was but the sheriff sent everyone a flyer that had a warrant. I forget what bait they used but they said it was some sort of seminar that you could attend and get say $500 for attending. Only the people named on the paper could participate.

Once the person would go to the ballroom, they would tell them their prize was in the back. Once they walked back there, several cops, deputies and fugitive task force would arrest them. Basically sting operation to nab those who they couldn’t catch.

Hopefully this is not a trap. It does seem peculiar that Brevard County is hosting this in light of the lawsuits against them. The paranoia that comes from being on the registry immediately raises alarm bells when law enforcement is involved. Trust towards law enforcement from many registrants is in short supply. I wonder what the job opportunities are?.

This is not BREVARD. This is BROWARD. These are two completely separate counties.

            That’s Miami-Dade, but close.
Nobody is forced to go to the event. I assure you it is not some scam to try to arrest people and the organizers are members of the reentry task force. If people don’t show up and speak out that there is an issue, it’s as if it doesn’t exist. This is a GOOD thing and hopefully people will recognize that.

            Riff raff,

Miami is not in Broward county it is in Metro-Dade county but they meet at a border.

What happened to the universal 1500ft law proposal? Based on the article, I’m glad that it didn’t become law as it would create a situation similar to Brevard County. But I am curious? Is the causeway camp still in existence?

Anyway, F.A.C has constantly reminded us that in fact we are NOT, Sex offenders but former felons. Or how about, just human beings?
When someone says “Will you give an opportunity to a sex offender?” That sounds scary. Instead “Would you be open to giving a former felon a second chance?”.

      CherokeeJ…

      YES! Former Felons!
…….Or a Former Felon Who Was Forced to Plea Guilty! (in My Case!)

That is the MOST LOGICAL Terminology!

      Thank You!

I believe that this is a must attend even for those not currently seeking employment.

I would like to see them follow the lead of the Tampa Police Chief wrt raising awareness of the effects of SORRs.

But credit where credit is due. They didn’t HAVE to do this, and yet they did.

Members who attend hopefully will share their experiences here. Was it helpful?
