Georgia sheriff taking self-imposed suspension

Here’s one that will make you ask WTF?.

The Sheriff of a County in Georgia exposed himself in a park and ran from Atlanta police. Here’s how they handled it there…

DeKalb County Sheriff Jeff Mann said he will take a self-imposed suspension starting this weekend.

In a memo to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Mann said he is disciplining himself for one week due to “conduct unbecoming.”

POLICE: TEEN GAVE FRIENDS TATTOOS WHILE AT SCHOOL

Mann was arrested earlier this month and is accused of exposing himself at Piedmont Park, then allegedly running from an Atlanta police officer.

Mann said he will donate one week of pay to charity. His suspension starts this Sunday… SOURCE

So let’s say this happened down here and he wasn’t a police officer… you commit indecent exposure, in a park and evade law enforcement… we’re talking a life sentence on the sex offender registry.  If I had similar charges and were reading this, I’d be up in arms!

No, no, no, no…..the same law applies to all. Someone in DeKalb County needs to scream their ass off. This guy is a sex offender. No passes just because he has a badge…..or even if he is the boss. He’s a sex offender on the registry for life!!!!

The law has disparity! I guess the sheriff has the likelihood of not reoffending. As a proponent of fair sex offender laws, why the good old boys escape the evils of the registry

How ‘valiant’ of the sheriff! Is he also going to put himself on a ‘temporary’ sex offender registry and pretend like he’s going to prison? I surely hope that this is a joke because in reality it would never apply to a citizen. I got 20 years of ‘real’ probation just for saying ‘good morning’ to my neighbor’s son on a neighborhood sidewalk in broad daylight with both the boy’s and his parent’s approval. The neighborhood ‘biddy’ reported it. Fortunately, I am now on speaking terms with that ‘biddy’. Why couldn’t I just have given myself some ‘practice probation’? I would have reported to myself and given myself $350 a month to monitor myself. I’m sure that this sheriff would say that this would not be reasonable and all I could say in return to him is “DITTO”!

We/EVERYONE should petition the DA to file charges !! , The Sheriff already admitted to the crime !! Anyone and I mean ANYONE else would be charged and Locked Up !! BADGES DONT GRANT RELIEF FROM CRIMES !!. This is absurd that a SHERIFF that admits to this crime, Can just GET AWAY WITH IT !!!! NO NO NO !!!!.

Why does his job give him a pass? This is incredulous! He KNOWS the law and has sworn an oath to uphold the law. If the law is unfair to him it is unfair to everyone subjected to the law.
