Foul play suspected in death of missing sex offender

News About Florida Sexual Offender

Last week, Hernando County deputies put up an alert about a missing sex offender who they reported had cut off his ankle monitor and disappeared.

Yesterday, the man was found dead, with the Hernando Sheriff calling him the “victim of foul play”

We will continue to monitor this case to determine whether the registrant was the victim of a vigilante murder.

Registrants are reminded to always be vigilant and careful. Do not open the door to anyone you don’t know or are not expecting.

If this list isnt punative then why is is part of a sentencing? Why is it mandatory at conviction? As a matter of fact if the conviction itself is sealed why is it still a requirement? Why does one need to petition the COURTS to get relief? If we somehow violate or not keep up with the restrictions and rules we are subject to instant felony prosecution??? Non punative? Hoping the courts are seeing that this is a violation of what few rights we all have left these days.

this why I live in fear. not only is my personal information being listed, put out for all to see, i have teenage children that drive , plus my wife, every time they leave, i worry about some vigilante thinking it is me and harming them, running them off the road, being harassed for being on/near a park or school. When was the last time having a tag # protected anyone or stopped anyone from being hurt?

And the good folks at the sherriff’s office seem to be ok with that….no response from Hernando County and 165 comments at the moment, many of them asking for the shrriff’s office not to investigate.

I think two or three of them acknowledged that the victim was actually a human being.

I know how we are viewed by society, but man, that comment section really hammers it home. I actually feel badly for those people.

A few years ago Maine has a couple of people killed by a person stalking sex offenders from the registry.
There will come a day that some sort of redemption for us will occur
One of us may hit the lottery and have money to hire a good attorney or several

Might it be that the assailant cut off the monitor in order to conceal his actions and not the ‘victim’. Why does it always seem to charged that the SO is the one who destroys the bracelet?

As long as Marion County and the rest of Florida, continues this ” Witch Hunt” on sex offenders, nobody will be safe. If I didn’t already have a steady income,an approved place to live and supportive friends and family,I would probably be living on the street now. Law enforcement and our so called justice system, lies with impunity and dreams up charges to fit their own agenda. Actual “justice means nothing to LEOs or the court. To bad they and the media either won’t red this or if they do they won’t admit to their roll in this “Witch Hunt”

Yet another example of the “non-punishment” sex offender laws putting people at risk of vigilante “justice.” I am apparently one of the lucky ones who has only had his house and car egged and his attempts to make a living torpedoed by card carrying members of the general public. I am a pre-2004 registrant, so I am not hassled so much by the police, etc. It is “The People” who have caused me the most difficulty over the past 10 years or so.

As I read the post about the sex offender who may have been murdered because of his committing an unacceptable offense. I was reminded of a time when I was in Michigan prison of a man who did the Heimlich maneuver in the chow hall of a man who had committed an acceptable offense. As the staff watched this sex offender stood from his chair and gave the man the Heimlich maneuver removing the beef from his throat. It was pretty clear that this man may have died at that point. So the warden put an accommodation on his record in his file stating that he had saved the life of another inmate. It’s funny how people view sex offenders as the evil but, in this case it was the sex offender who saved the other offenders life. Any thoughts.

His friends and loved ones should insist on an investigation. I monitor the news daily for an update and there’s nothing.
