Former Florida deputy accused of molesting girl in Lantana

A former Florida sheriff’s deputy is accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl multiple times at his home.

The girl told a DCF investigator she had text messages from XXXXX that showed he admitted to the incident. Police downloaded evidence from the girl’s Android phone. The police report highlighted one text message from XXXXX that read, “How Dare you.” Police said XXXXX texted the girl to arrange a meeting in person so he could explain his side of the story. The girl refused to meet with him.

He’s being held on no bond and must not have any contact with the victim, minor children, witnesses, or anyone under the age of 18.

According to the arrest report, investigators say XXXXX is a former deputy with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and that he works security for a detention facility as a contract employee for the Department of Homeland Security.

Is it just my imagination, or is this the second one this week?

Notice how thorough the investigation was.

THIS is how sex crime units need to be using their resources. Not address checks, vehicle verifications, etc. THIS.

Molestation investigations are a lot harder (and, to law enforcement, feel less rewarding) than compliance operations, but they are essential.

Isn’t it kinda amazing…. XXXXX is the deputies name? Tell me, when each and every one of you, who is on the LIST, was arrested, wasn’t your name published either on the news, papers, television etc.
Why is the deputy given special treatment?

He was not and his name is not XXXXX. We redact the names of the accused. The purpose of the post is not to shame the individual, it is to show that perpetrators of sexual offenses can be anyone. Even a teacher or police officer.

Couldn’t help but notice that registration wasn’t part of his sentence. Friends in high places…

Registration is required by statute. It does not need to be part of the sentence.

The article says he’s pleading guilty to child abuse. Not child sexual abuse. It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t have to register.

He does have a few sex offender-like conditions, such as being barred from visiting schools and playgrounds without his probation officer’s permission. But the bottom of the line is he’s not going to be on the registry.

I think the headline here should be: “DHS Employee and Former Deputy Arrested for Child Sex Crime.”

Dig deep enough and you’ll find an “officer of the month” award somewhere.
