Florida Supreme Court hammers the nail in Sen Book’s flimsy restraining order fight

That’s it. The Florida Supreme Court has just ruled in favor of Derek Logue and against Senator Lauren Book, declining to hear the case and stating that no motions for rehearing will be entertained.

Today was a great day for the First Amendment and an individual’s right to peacefully petition and protest against politicians. Lauren Book and Derek Logue are on two completely opposite sides of the sex offender registry debate. However, when Derek didn’t shy away from making his voice heard, Ms. Book filed a restraining order against him. The restraining order was originally granted (says something about her influence in Broward County), but the 4th District Court of Appeals sided with Derek and the Supreme Court did too.

Hopefully this puts an end to a multi-year, very litigious case that was unnecessarily dragged too far.

Congratulations to Derek Logue and extra thanks and congratulations to the attorneys who represented him, Jamie Benjamin and Gary Edinger, who have always been very good to FAC.

This case preserves a very important legal precedent!!! Show up, Stand up, Speak out!!!

Lauren Book is so full of hate. A closed mind that had no compassion. Truth be known she is just as miserable as RSOs

I agree Sarah. As a child abuse victim myself(along with my sister) you have a path to choose. My path as I got older was to not be a “victim”..but a survivor. Was I on heightened alert concerning my own children? Yes as much as I could be, but it did not dominant my every move. She must be really miserable to not be able to use critical thinking in her decisions. If just being a “victim” plus having a rich daddy was all I needed I would be a senator from Florida or heck maybe the governor!! LOL

“Perpetual Victim Barbie” suits Senator Book quite well, actually.

I doubt she’s completely given up on finding ways to cause harm to me, though.

The name “Senator Book” shows respect that isn’t deserved. I will always call it “Lauren Book/Crook”. Once an ahole, always an ahole. She’s a Tier 3 predator ahole.

Congratulations to you. If only all People Forced to Register were as strong and impactful.

There needs to be a father version too of Ken in the image of Ron to compete the pair. Sure he’s crying in his beverage of choice over this.

    Wonderful news.

If the Book’s and other legislators really cared about children they would put real effort into prevention. They would put work into resources and outreach for those who need it. But we all know that.

Derek shouldn’t have been forced to appeal a bad order by an incompetent judge. We need to remove these judges that refuse to follow the law. Ditto for Derek’s criminal case. He shouldn’t have a bogus criminal case hanging over his head for years.
I hear about corrupt judges in Florida and these judges give the appearance of corruption. Whether it’s favoritism or incompetence is irrelevant. Judges are duty bound to follow the law but trial judges in Florida consistently refuse to apply the law in an equitable manner.

Far too often the decisions are politically motivated rather than fact based. Case in point, the NUMEROUS Decisions brought about by the Florida Supreme Court regarding double jeopardy issues in the ICAC sponsored stings where the Courts are ignoring the facts of the case, in particular, those that are factually identical to the numerous FSC decisions. (Federal judges are also guilty of this btw)

Although, there are also Judges who stick to facts rather than be concerned about their decision influencing the re-election odds in their favor. Apparently the sitting members on the FSC are of this mindset… Most of the time anyway.

P.S. Thanks Derick for seeing this one through to the end. Most would have given up at the trial level.

Lauren’s situation was created by absentee parents who valued making money over staying home with their child. As we later learn, dad has a drinking problem causing potential harm to anyone driving a Ford Focus in the way of his Lamborghini.

Yes, it is the nanny’s fault.

However, I bet Ron Book/Crook shares some blame. A parent should take a lot of effort to learn how to raise a child. I would bet anything that he didn’t do enough. He was too busy making money and harassing people. Before a child can walk, a parent should start teaching the child how to help the parent keep them from being a victim of a sex crime. I’ve seen that done, up close and personal, many times. It works extremely well. And then all the time as you raise the child you must actually pay attention to them and you can prevent them from being abused. I’ll bet anything in the world that Crook didn’t do enough. So yep, ultimately the blame is fully on the nanny, but Crook could have prevented it and didn’t.

Today, good parents have no need for the Hit Lists. They know anyone could harm their children. Bad parents will never be helped enough by the Hit Lists. They’ll read their Lists, harass the families that are listed on them, gossip on Facecrook, and let their children be molested. That is how the Hit Lists “work”. Smart people don’t need them and stupid people just want them for entertainment.

Having said all that, I’m fine with the Books being victims. Someone has to be so it ought to be people who think Hit Lists are acceptable. They paid it forward.

Ditto. I’d also like the Books to explain how the absurd laws they advocate would have prevented Lauren’s abuse, considering the nanny had no priors.

Frankly, I think too many people give Princess Lauren too much credit.

Since the tragic Parkland school shooting and her lack of comment immediately following it – weird because it was in her district and any other politician would be racing to the mikes (and many were) – I have been 100% convinced that she doesn’t know what she thinks until Big Daddy Ron tells her.

Lauren Book is looking to become the state’s Chief Financial Officer. I think her reason for taking the job (besides more money for her business) is because she’s losing her senate seat next election.

You see, Book pretended she cared about the Parkland families, then she stabbed them in the back by voting to reinstate Sheriff Israel, the coward from Broward who poorly trained his officers for this kind of event. Israel, of course, is a friend of the Books.

Needless to say, the Parkland folks haven’t forgotten so she knows she’ll have stiff competition in the next senate election, so she has an exit strategy in place.

IN other words, Big Daddy Ron will be the state’s CFO by proxy. If his handling of the Miami Homeless Trust is any indication, all Floridians should be concerned.
