FAC Weekly Update 2024-06-09-Help Us Monitor 2025 Legislative Bills
Dear Members and Advocates,
It is never too early to start planning your role in the 2025 Legislative session. The Florida Senate has posted a schedule that shows the 2025 session will start on March 4 and is scheduled to end May 2. (Note: Sessions in even-numbered years start in January, while sessions in odd-numbered years start in March because of elections and often new legislators just being assigned to committees in January).
If you are not familiar with the Florida State Legislators, visit https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/representatives to review the House of Representatives and visit https://m.flsenate.gov/senators to review the list of FL senators. To find YOUR elected lawmakers, enter your address here for senators https://m.flsenate.gov/senators and here for the House Representatives https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/FindYourRepresentative.
The FAC legislative team was very active last year in monitoring bills and speaking at committee meetings. For the 2025 session, we hope to have an even larger presence in Tallahassee and we can do if we start now.
Please join us on our next legislative meeting Wednesday, June 12 @ 8 pm ET . Join and learn how to see who is running for offices in their district. If you are able to join with the zoom link, Jennifer, FAC Legislative Team Chair, will be sharing her screen to show you how to look it up your representatives. For those that call in by phone only and would like their information, we will do our best to look up your reps during the call and have you write down the contact information.
If you are available to assist in the look-up process, you can send an email to jennifer@floridaactioncommittee.org. She can use your help to look up districts for those who do not have internet access.

Well things like this are sure not going to help us one bit. We will all be held accountable for what one rouge registrant did.

What ever happened to the doe v. SWEARINGEN case about registrants with cases prior to 1997 ?
The court in Does v Swearingen (now Does v Glass) was waiting on the decision for Harper v Glass.
That decision was issued in April 2024. Now we are just waiting for the Does court to set a trial date.
