FAC addresses suspicious survey and invites “investigator” to answer concerns
This week, a suspicious invitation to participate in a “survey” was sent to every registered email on the Florida Sex Offender registry.
Today, we sent the following letter to the academic who is allegedly behind this survey, inviting him to answer to some glaring concerns we all have. We will update this post if he responds.
And this is another reason why so many are so grateful to FAC. Thank you.
I had previously said I only got the invite at one of my emails but today I got it all of my registered emails. So yeah, someone got a list of our registered emails.
I took the survey assuming it was part of the study we did a few weeks back that FAC had posted. Very odd timing. And like I said, No personal information was asked ( name, address, etc ) because I guess they already knew it.
Also all the questions that pertained to violations (25-50) I skipped because I did not violate and would not have answered even if I did duh.
Thank you, I received the E-Mail, and stared at it, because it’s going to be asking asking questions that could be used against me,even though it says it won’t…..I get home checks every 3 weeks and calls from police,I don’t need any more drama….
Thanks Gail. The best way to verify the veracity of the survey is by contacting the school directly. I was just getting ready to send them a certified letter.
First thing I did was emailed a letter of concern forward to Southwestern University Kansas administration and legal departments. So far, no response! JEV
Excellent letter! Well done to copy the university’s president and make him aware of the potential legal ramifications of this ill-considered survey. 👍
I got the same letter on my personal email but not on my company email yesterday.
Excellent! Thank you, FAC!!!
A well-written letter addressing the primary concerns. Thank you!
Think about of FOIA request to the Florida Law Enforcement to find out any and all connections with this person.
Many law enforcement agencies say they don’t have to obey FOIA but they sure the hell do with a Federal Law Suit (1983 since everyone is technically still under the government’s thumb with this list.)
Meanwhile in Tallahassee, 170 people have been arrested for purported crimes against children and human trafficking.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.tallahassee.com/amp/6322374002
At least two LE (corrections officers) were arrested for sex crimes against children, according to the article.
Roll call of the arrested
Those facing felony charges connected to the largest TPD human trafficking operation in city history.
Jarred A. Jenkins, 26, Department of Corrections
Jamichael Reshard Cox, 30, Department of Corrections
If I’m reading it right, the ONE victim in this case was originally pimped out by her own mother, then the Tallahassee PD took over the exploitation from there. The TPD pimped her out for two more years. And they have the nerve to sit back, pat their own backs, and expect nothing but good graces and adoration from the public??
I’m really considering contacting the Feds and insisting they press exploitation charges against the TPD and every officer that participated in this travesty. Not sure about Florida or federal law, but most states have laws forbidding LE from using minors in stings and undercover operations. I don’t see any possible way this could be legal.
Not to mention the effect on the girl….
I had the sane thought, Dustin. How could USING this girl and their sting operation be legal, to say nothing of ethical?? And the message to this poor child is clear: you are merely an object to be used….by your mother….by the johns….by law enforcement. Florida has no Child Protective Services?? Shameful.

Dustin, I seemed to have missed the part about TPD pimping out the girl. I am very interested in where you found that information.
However TPD has real problems if they ignored ongoing criminal exploitation during their investigation. They should have stepped in immediately to protect this girl rather than using her to build a high profile case. It is inexcusable if that is what happened.
@ Ed C:
“Pimped out” as in exploited. Her mother did it for dope. TPD did it for their sting – she was nothing more than a worm on the hook for their fishing expedition.
To-may-to, to-mah-to.
I received 2 of them today.
You are right, as you know we have to list all email addresses we use. I happen to list a 55+ community web site I am on, and that Survey Letter came to that email address and not my personal email. You can imagine, how i felt.
Pat
Was it address by name to you? Mine were not so at least there is that. One of mine went to spam and the other came through in normal in box. Neither had my name on them.
Still concerning to say the least.
Thank you FAC!
FAC, Thank you.
Good looking out.👍
Thank you Florida Action Committee for all the work you do and for protecting us!
FAC…So Southwestern College, an Institution of Higher Learning, located in San Diego California, is the Sponsor of this Stupid Survey?
So, therefore, this formerly employed FDLE ‘thug’, is an employee of Southwestern? FAC, please comment
thanks
You are incorrect. Southwestern College is not in California – they are in Kansas.
We have no comment of your classification of this individual as a ‘thug’.
FAC
Why cant he call him a thug? You by your own admission called the guy a scammer did you not?
It is just as wrong to characterize current or former LE as thugs just as it is wrong to characterize any of us as chomos or pedophiles. If you really want truth, here is some: Each person stands or falls on their own.
I also received this email. I haven’t lived in Florida in over 3 years.
But your still in the Florida database
“Police would not discuss details that could identify the victim — including whether her mother was involved or charged in the sex trafficking ring.
A number of defendants told investigators during sworn interviews that the girl’s mother wouldn’t allow anyone to have sex with her unless they brought money or drugs, according to police reports.”
If cops allowed this to continue they shouldn’t be patting themselves on back, should prosecuted as well as the mother. Sick twisted people at high levels of law enforcement.
Not a tremendous revelation, however, DOC is not likely their current employment, as with all the other people on the list, the list includes their name and where they reside. So more than likely DOC is where they currently live, not work.
So he changed his linked in profile?
Ironically, he is a professor but FAC just taught him a lesson.
Or maybe he abandoned his LinkedIn profile and just recently updated it when he became aware that the info was out of date? I saw his profile before the change and he did have the professor job listed, it was just that the professor job was not highlighted.
Happy to see so many responses since this Professor decided to steal my business email addresses and within the survey ask if I’m compliant and if not, a bunch of personal questions about my case?
He would get better journalist results if he was to interview 10 Florida based RSOs and get permission / releases from each to tell their stories.
If he has our emails he has our names and he could use the information against us somehow.
This is shady ambush journalism at its worst!

Well I was curious and decided to check out those links. The Facebook one is horrendous, the amount of hate from people isn’t surprising. They are using it to specifically target and harrass the people and the peoples family and jobs. One person targeted has all the members on that page calling dcf to take his child away and making false claims so they will open tickets. Im not condoning people doing illegal actions with minors, but as a society we should handle things better. Even the police say that they can’t use the evidence the jax provided because its tainted but yet they are allowed to promote harrassment on these people. Sounds like more of the government made up crimes/entrapment for the false premise of child safety.
So, I’m sure if you ask a cop, or pretty much ANY individual, what they would do if someone threatened the safety and well- being of their family, they would answer with some pretty extreme measures likely including bodily harm or more of the person or persons targeting them or their family. YET, we are just expected to sit back and “take it”because we are on the registry. Any measures that would be understandable to protect one’s family, would be viewed in an entirely different light if undertaken by a person on the registry.
Keep harming a dog and expect it not to protect itself. When it does bite back, have it put down. These people who harass registrants are cowards who need a dog to kick. They look for people who cannot fight back.
I am in the middle of a situation where I am ensuring this treatment right now. As group moms have decided they didn’t want me around (my daughter was participating in a sport). The registry (aka “hit list”) was used to incite other parents to slander and libel me. Fortunately, there is also a significant portion of the parents and other evidence that the allegation are false. Unfortunately, I still have to weather this attack at a trial. I am sure the state is going to try and sway a jury based on my conviction and try to get them to convict me just because it’s the “right thing” to get me off the street, even though the evidence clearly proves my innocence. I was arrested in February and have only briefly spoken with my public defender. I am saving as best I can for a “real” attorney.
Once I have cleared this hurdle of exoneration, my goal is lots of lawsuits based on provable false sworn statements. Unfortunately, I don’t make a good “victim”because of my status as a registrant. It’s a way of basically saying, even though I was wronged, I either don’t deserve justice in this issue or that the perpetrators were justified. So, the lawsuits will likely be from my wife and daughter seeking damages for how they were wronged. The wrongs against me will likely go unpunished from my perspective.
Point is, we are basically “muzzled” and the public is generally okay with that.
Assuming that he is no longer affiliated with FDLE, is it even legal for him to be using the email list?
This former FDLE employee’s survey may not be illegal; yet the way he used our emails from FDLE’s database to send out his survey; seems highly unethical and unprofessional. Smells like a sting especially when a lawsuit is occurring. The timing seems way off unless it’s used to scare registrants from filing lawsuits against FDLE and the state of Florida. It’s time for their corrupt pedestal to get knocked down on their fantasyland.
I’m surprised he didn’t pose as an underage professor looking to understand the registry.
Did we ever get an answer?
Did this man or college respond?
JEV, GG and CJ:
The court in Delgado v Swearingen gave them access to the email addresses but Florida cannot tie a specific email address to a specific person. If someone received an email with their name on it, it would directly conflict with the court’s ruling in Delgado and possibly give the recipient grounds to sue.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Your identity will be anonymous and will not be known to the researchers doing the study. You will be requested not to enter your name or any other identifying information on the survey.
At the very bottom of the survey in small print it clearly states:
Please do not forward this email as its survey link is unique to you.
So much for Confidentiality.
