Chicago: Police refuse to register and then arrest them for failing to register

Imagine a glass repairman walking down the street and throwing bricks through windows, simply to get more business.

In Chicago, the justice system is trying to create jobs for themselves and artificially increase recidivism rates by refusing to allow registrants to complete their Sex Offender registration and then arresting them for failure to register.

This story, which was broadcast on public radio, details several offenders who showed up, as required, to register as sex offenders but were turned away. Day after day, dozens of offenders show up and wait to register at the Chicago Police Department Headquarters but are turned away because the police are too overburdened to register them.

The police are not, however, too overburdened to arrest them days later for failure to register, thereby artificially increasing crime rates and recidivism statistics, securing their jobs at the expense of taxpayer dollars and the lives of registrants and their families.
