CALL TO ACTION-STOP LAUREN BOOK’S AMENDMENTS TO SB 1252

URGENT CALL TO ACTION – STOP LAUREN BOOK’S AMENDMENTS ON FLUORESCENT GREEN LICENSE PLATES AND RED LETTERING ON DRIVER’S LICENSES

SB 1252 HAS BEEN RETAINED ON THE SPECIAL ORDER CALENDAR WITH FIVE PENDING AMENDMENTS, INCLUDING THREE FROM LEADER BOOK.

AT THE POSTING OF THIS CALL TO ACTION, SB 1252 HAS NOT BEEN ADDED TO ANY OF THE FOUR SPECIAL ORDER CALENDARS FOR MAY 1 & 2, BUT THAT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME.

 Major Concerns:

  • Amendments filed by Senator Lauren Book for SB 1252: The department shall assign a distinctive, fluorescent green license plate to vehicles owned, leased or operated by persons who are designated as sexual predators under s. 775.21 11 or are subject to registration as sexual offenders under s. 943.0435 or s. 944.607, or who have a similar designation or are subject to a similar registration under the laws of another jurisdiction. Such person must display the distinctive, fluorescent green license plate on any vehicle owned, leased, or operated by him or her as required in subsection (1), and may not disguise or obscure the plate.
  • The sponsor of SB 1252, Senator DeCeglie, filed an amendment to the bill that would remove the red lettering on the driver’s licenses.  Senator Book filed an amendment to put the red lettering back into the bill AFTER DeCeglie filed his amendment.  Book is fighting to keep the red lettering in SB 1252.
  • Senator Book continues to push legislation that would punish people with a past sex offense after they have served out their sentence.  Is she using her office to seek revenge for what her nanny did to her?

PLEASE Do the Following:

  • Email or call the 40 senators (or as many as you can).
  • Let the Senators know that you OPPOSE the fluorescent green coloring of the license plates that Senator Book has proposed in her amendments, along with the red lettering on the front of driver’s licenses.
  • Ask the Florida Senators to vote YES on Senator DiCeglie’s amendment to SB 1252 that would remove the red lettering language and vote NO on Senator Book’s amendments that include the red lettering on the front of driver’s licenses and florescent green license plates.
  • Ask family members and friends to also contact the senators to OPPOSE Book’s amendments.

Talking Points:

  • According to FDLE, there are already 63 registry requirement violations that could land someone back in prison, making people on the Florida sex offense registry regulated to the point that the Florida registry has become excessively punitive. Adding the red lettering on the driver’s licenses and the fluorescent green license plates will be the tipping point that will bring the registry down in the courts.
  • Should legislators, such as Lauren Book with an obvious vendetta, be able to create policy to target a particular population?
  • Why is Lauren Book refusing to talk to reporters? What is she afraid of?
  • https://cw34.com/news/local/south-florida-senator-proposes-marked-license-distinctive-fluorescent-plates-for-registered-sex-offenders-florida-action-committee-requires-licenses-of-registered-sex-offenders-in-the-state-to-have-the-words-sexual-offender-written-in-red-april-28-2023
  • https://nbc-2.com/news/state/2023/04/27/florida-sex-offenders-could-be-required-to-have-special-colored-license-plates/
  • Other states have tried to legislate the green license plates and failed to do so (Ohio, Alabama, and Wisconsin). Why does Florida want to be infamous as the state for being the most unconstitutional state in the United States?
  • Why does Florida want to go down a path to place targets on the backs of children and families with the green license plates just because a family member made a bad decision in the past for which they have already paid their debt to society?
  • Why does Florida want to deliberately and blatantly ignore all of the research which clearly shows none of these policies have done anything to increase public safety?
  • Lauren Book’s amendments will have registrants along with their spouse or significant other, teenage sons and daughters, and others driving with a target on their backs for vigilantes to come after them in a way that this country has never seen before.
  • Lauren Book’s red lettering on the driver’s licenses has been declared unconstitutional in the Louisiana and Alabama court cases.

This is simply another shaming tactic and tool for vigilantes and a pacifier for victims against people who are on the registry.
The registry itself is a political tool for re-election and popularity.
If you’ve done the time for any crime you should be given a second chance. The registry and all the other BS simply makes it near impossible to reintegrate into society.
Do you see gang/ drug dealers, who are VIOLENT people on a registry? How about people who killed somebody for DUI? How about people that continually rob and assault others?

The registry is a tool NOT for law enforcement but for slimy opportunistic politicians such as Senator Lauren Book. She is professional victim. She has played the victim card for years…it pays very well for her and daddy Ron.

Senator Lauren Book is motivated by money and at this point with all of the damage her registry efforts have done which include the murder of registrants and the abuse of family members (including children Lauren – “think of the children”) of those forced to register! The registry is a proven SCAM so any money from it or those who profit from it like the Books are receiving [moderated].

I have noticed that all of these senate meetings that have to do with book’s illogical and unconstitutional amendments that she is not present . Why ? So no one can call her out or ask her questions ? Just like most cowards she’s hiding. She’s the typical bully, talks crap she knows nothing about so she spins things to fit her agenda to try to get everybody riled up about someone else to make sure no one is looking at them to see they’re faults. She is showing her instability , and her agenda of vengeance , by the fact that after senator DeCeglie made an amendment to remove the red lettering from the bill she immediately makes an amendment to put it back in . We will not be safe as long as she in a position of power.

    Definition of Vigilante –
a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.

What we registered families are subject to are violent criminals and thugs. Let us call them what they are.

Lauren Book clearly does not care about children. At least not the 10’s of thousand of them in the state of Florida. Maby she feels our children by association to us are not worthy of her consideration. Her ammendment will lterly send families as refugees to other states seeking refuge from an overly oppressive government. Doesn’t sound like the USA we brag about in songs and sports events. But this has become my families reality. This is not longer just a horrible idea it’s now become dangerous to children and families all over the state of Florida.

In spite of the Nightmare unfolding, bright green shiny license plates will ultimately soften the impact of being a SEX (Yikes!) Offender. Even now almost everyone who I talk to when this subject comes up knows somebody on the list. Mostly family, friends as well, co-workers, employees and even bosses. Granted, there are people who fear the boogeyman, and SROs are the creepy Boogeyman on the past couple or so decades. In the ’60s, it was a source of comedy. Sex abuse is and has always been harmful, for centuries and beyond. But in modern society the pendulum swing of laughing about and hiding from it has become an extreme focus of the entire horror of life today. It will swing back and hopefully every cycle we get smarter. But right now, oh my. I found out today I cannot go to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a stay and visit without risk of being arrested after walking in with a paid for ticket and that is my wife’s #1 bucket list “reality” to do dream right now.

New to me, based on this resource on the FAC wesbite:

          https://a2twozee.blogspot.com/

“However, you should beware of theme parks. They don’t count as state or local parks under Florida’s registry, BUT avoid buying any ticket where they take your fingerprint for re-entry ID purposes because they will do background checks and you could be taken aside by park security, humiliated in front of your family and denied entry. Disney World has a well-earned bad reputation for doing this, so as much as you may want to go there you should stay away.”

My wife and I did a day pass about 13 years ago without an issue on 4th of July. But I know a lot has changed since then. Being arrested in Disney World would be a bad trip, to say the least.

There are stories online about RSO’s buying a ticket or pass and being arrested charged with “tresspassing” and escorted out of DW in handcuffs some time after walking in with their happy families through the gates.

[Moderator’s note: We are unaware of any cases of registrants being handcuffed at Disney but would welcome any verifiable information].

Can you imagine? Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck making way for the police who have you in handcuffs and your kids are screaming in the worst nightmare anyone could create in their most sadistic mean mood.

Even with this “Where Dreams Come True” nightmare, today I am 100% on Disney’s side in the surreal Florida battle going on.

            Crazy times, ugh.

I would like to go but I have not worked since 2014. The cost of a one-day pass is more than what I get in food stamps in 6 months. 🙁
Then there is the $25 parking fee, so make it 7 months of food stamps since I get just $23 a month.

Well if Book does consider furthering her career in politics, hopefully she realizes, that the family and friends, who she will also be targeting with this law are registered voters. Who would play a role in furthering her political career.

Someone she might love, or maybe even like, will have the Green-plate possibly not knowing her name is on it. They will be subjected to a lot of hate, as we all are. Entire families, close circles of friends, businesses, clubs, non-profits, churches even, the attack is very wide and there are a lot of innocent victims.

When she runs to be the DA of Florida using this law as one of her “wins”, think about how passionate she is to victims today when you vote later, if you can…

This law is unenforceable, you cannot require a business to place green licenseplates on all their vehicles because they have 1 Registrant on staff that has access to all the business vehicles.

Secondly you cant force all vehicles owned by a trust to comply because one of the trustees is required to register.

Compliance is within 48 hours, in most places by appointment only.

The state is not equipped to handle the issuance of that many plates within the required 48 hours.

    This is entrapment.

If this passes and goes into effect on 01 July, and there’s a 48 hour compliance window, it’ll be impossible. July 1sr in on a Saturday! Most state/county offices won’t be open until the 5th. And will the county offices even be set up and/or ready for the rush??

There has been increasing media coverage of the license plate amendment. This is not a good development. It is an unfortunate reality that the majority of the public gleefully supports draconian punitive measures like these regardless of their Constitutionality. And the more they know about this, the more pressure there will be on lawmakers to support it. Voting against it, even with perfectly sound legal reasons, would result in significant political consequences. Having this bill move along quietly would have been our best hope to oppose this.

That’s because of the narrative that all offenders on the registry are monsters hiding behind the bushes to grab kids. The media is not explaining how most of these cases are family related and this law affects the immediate family members.

I also would like to know the answer to this; do we, in fact, have an injunction in the works? I’d like to think common sense will prevail, but this is Florida.

There is zero chance I’m going to put my loved ones at risk with green plates, so we’ve been forced to work on a backup plan, which involves moving to another state.

The anxiety this has caused me and my family is unreal. I wish I could sue them for torture.

Wrt legal action, we are already in preparation to proceed. We have two attorneys that have taken the case and will be filing a lawsuit if the license plate or red lettering provisions become law.

So if these bills pass with this language, we are on it.

We will also be accepting donations for this challenge, but we have to make sure these bills actually become law first.

      Stay tuned.

    Sell your personally owned vehicles.
Begin looking for a short term lease apartment.

In doing the above you have protected yourself as you do not own any vehicles nor do you drive you have surrendered your license. You also have protected your family from senseless violence, death and property damage. Lastly set yourself up with a short term lease so when the cases and lawsuits are won, you can move back home. Lastly and this is a long shot, consult with Morgan and Morgan about a personal injury lawsuit against any lawmakers who vote Yes on the Book amendments. I am not moving, very hard to find a comfortable place to live. I’m fortunate to be “burned” into this block after 12 years. I’ve had interactions with most of my neighbors helping or asking for help on whatever small issue pops up (hurricanes being one), my wife and I are very quiet and I “rarely” play loud music outside, I have cameras up recording every second of every day in a 360 degree view of our home low enough so my neighbors can be themselves in their backyards behind the fences, yet they know who to call if something on the street is important to them, or the police often want a clip as well.

We cannot become a victim of this political abuse. We need to stand up, wear our big green plates to Publix, Walmart, the finest dining establishment in town using valet parking. Having been through this nightmare several times I know this is just another weird moment in the life of an RSO.

We do need to fight for our rights and our family’s rights too, with wisdom and the right tools. For certain. Morgan and Morgan in Florida is almost as powerful as Mickey Mouse. In fact, I will smoke a hit of my Medical MJ in honor of their past successes for the People of Florida.

For you just coming into the post-prison nightmare of being out here in Florida, you will be OK after you find an “island of sanity”. Best advice anyone gave me was to find an “island of sanity” and it was not even about being an RSO. In a way, these islands are everywhere, you just got to poke around.

One day we may need to wear a big pointed bright green cone on our heads in public to warn kids and advertise a political campaign. Seems “green” and “sex” go together, “red” and “sex” is off-limits, opens a giant can of worms…

Fight, First of all I never troll and if you had or have read my previous comments you would have not made that comment so Moving on. To be clear I currently do not own any of the 3 cars on my registration, Yet if this passes my law abidding family members with no felony record, no misdemaenor record either; will be forced to drive around town marked for harrassment, damage or physical harm. My out of state family members who usually stay five to 10 days would be forced to get the plate, I can promise you this that would never happen. So would I move out of my house that I have lived in since 2003 and away from my wife of almost 30 and 3 daughters if this passes …. Damn Straight. What would be your suggestion. I have already spoken with an attorney over the phone and will be setting up an appointment with him in the coming weeks. This is the first time I have ever emailed one of our state legislators. This is my Alamo, like many of us on here and the registry our offenses predate the FSORNA. So am i willing to take impractical steps to protect my family, ah yeah yes I will. Lastely from time to time others have tried to compare the registry to 1940’s Germany and I always felt like it a stretch, but now what is the difference between a yellow star visable by all or a Florescent Green License plate visable by all other than the color and shape.

Tampa Tribune used to post a photo of every Sex Offender in Hillsborough County every year. Maybe they still do that. My first time famous on those pages a bunch of people shocked who I knew demanded I be kicked out of my college or neighborhood. Talk about a stressful day!

Public humiliation is cruel and unusual punishment. We who on the registry are subject to that every time a politician wants to get attention for “protecting” kids. Here we are again. Green license plates.

Every day more people on the list, in Florida most of the people on the registry are visitors from other states. Green license plates will be a novelty for a minute, then nobody will care. I’ll agree to wear a metallic green wig if I could only rent or buy a waterfront condo in my county where I pat taxes.

Seems being a RSO in Florida took back seat to Drag Queens lately. Who is more evil or of the Devil? LOL

A black Registered Sex Offender who is a Drag Queen in Florida must be considered worse than a mass murderer or school shooter!

I’m a white SO on the website and the town I live already passed my picture around a few times. I’m lucky.

A green license plate is one more nail in the unconstitutional coffin of this entire political fiasco that one day will crumble.

Morgan and Morgan would make many millions on a successful class action lawsuit. Right?

I was at a good job where the public came in and worked there for 11 years. One day either an employee or a customer went down every isle and hung posters of my registry page.

Anyway the manager personally went and took every one of them down and apologized to me and said he had my back. The next day corporate called me and overrode the manager and terminated me for disruption of business practices.

What is funny, or odd or disturbing is this. I am not required to notify my neighbors and some of them have known me for over 30 years. When the Nextdoor app came out, I was outed by the neighbors. So I did not bother anyone for over 30 years and yet now that the info was found out, I am the boogeyman?
People sometimes do not even make sense. They drive by and stare at me like I have 3 eyes and horns. If I was going to do anything to someone, wouldn’t I have done it before when no one knew my secret?
ONE single mistake 32 years ago and I am branded as a monster. Even funnier, they walk their kids to the school bus, but when they get home, they play in our front yard HAHA. I can’t even believe the hypocrisy.

I also think the DL red letters will pass, but not the plates. However, many people own homes or have large families with small children. The banishment laws in most towns makes it impossible to move anywhere. Thanks for the lawyers. I’m donating.

I called them last year about a life altering injury I got from a medication I took that rendered me partially paralyzed. The nice lady was excited about my case. I never got a call back. (All lawyers look up your past so sure they saw I had a sex offense and were thinking “No thanks”)

This amendment is like putting a target for violence on all those that will have this license plate. There is enough gun crazy people in today’s society that we don’t need to create any more targets.
It will continue to create chaos to those who live in a state with the most intense restrictions to live a normal life. This amendment is for men and women who have made mistakes, were punished by being incarcerated, served their time, and then forced to live with Florida’s lifetime probation rules. I will not go into these rules because you are aware of them and realize how restrictive they are. This amendment, I believe, is both unconstitutional and totally unnecessary.

Especially to those of us who are trying to make life happen as normally as we can. Legislators need to stop with nonsensical laws that STOP us in our tracks of making a good life! Good Morning
This situation highlights why I thankfully give to FAC.

I have been a member since 2017 I think, I joined when I got a card in the mail.

How often since that day I have thanked God for FAC.

I must confess that I have not pushed FAC as I should have.

Yesterday I went next door an d talked to my neighbor.they have someone ont the registry, but I have neglected to speak to them about FAC. But yesterday I did.

We talked about SB 1252, there was such concern. I shared about FAC and they said they were going to join!

They sent out emails to the Senators last night.

And we’re going to get their family and friends involved. And tell them about FAC.

I am going to contact all Registered Citizens in my area and make sure they know about FAC, that they are not alone.

    Have a blessed day

Your post is in line with my today’s Bible study lesson. It is based on Matthew 22:39 Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Here is the last paragraph of today’s study that is so relevant.

“Have you ever rejected someone for a reason you wouldn’t apply to yourself? If you haven’t rejected yourself, then don’t reject others. Tear down the walls that separate you from others. As you love and care for yourself, show love and care for others”.

This green fluorescent light tag can not be applied logistically. I just spoke to someone else on the registry. They have one SUV in the house for the whole family that live in the same big house. His son in law is a police officer. The wife daughter is a Federal Officer and they have 2 young kids. They take care of the elderly mom in the house with health issues. -How can the state tell this family that they all have to be designated as sex offenders with a green tag on the family USV ? It’s impossible. Even if they tinker with the current law and say only the car the offender owns in order to avoid the family problem. That means extra cost burdens, violating civil rights. It could be tide up in the courts forever.

Please ask the Federal Officer to write to the Senators! I mean no disrespect to our lawmakers, but I feel like we have to paint them a bleeping picture of what these laws they’re proposing will look like in the real world.

I’m in an almost identical situation. I’m the PFR, and I live with my husband, our two kids, and my elderly parents. This would put a giant target on all of us.

“This green fluorescent light tag can not be applied logistically.”

It would be a fiasco. Plus everyone would see these plates with little old ladies, high school kids driving, in parking lots and at red lights, etc.

If a man is driving, people will say, “Oh there is the pervert.” If the driver is a woman, then “Oh she must be married to a pervert!”

When someone smashes our windshield, do they charge a “Hate Crime” or laugh it off as the expected legal action of a concerned and frightened citizen?

If I back into my driveway at night, is that a felony that I might be “hiding” the plate?

Can I have a vanity plate in green, something that would really upset the haters even more? “UPN U44”?

Cops already have our license plates in their database, the new color does not help the cops, it only creates fear in the naive public. With Grady Judd adding dozens of new SO’s every month or so with his fine-tuned seductive classified ads and experienced police online hookers posing as “under-age”, there will be so many green plates in Florida even non RSO’s will be soon asking how they get one because they like them.

I am finding out that many don’t know about FAC.

I know there is great expense and man hours to get the word of FAC out those on the registry. What would it take to get a mail out to those on the registry, but not a member of FAC? FACTS MATTER, and if we don’t know them we are destined to continue to repeat over and over. If we knew what it would take to get a making out, maybe we could get it done.
I joined because I got a card in the mail.

In leaving messages to the Senator’s I pushed that Facts Matter.. they don’t know the facts.

I was going to say I do not know how they could impose that on you, then I remembered, Florida has people on their registry who are dead. How weird is that? So If this passes, you need to check with a lawyer because Florida makes up laws as they go along. Doesn’t even matter if they are constitutional, they pass them and dare a judge to disagree. What a waste of tax payers money because not only do we have to pay for filing lawsuits but the state has to pay for a defense when they are challenged.

If you have a hotel you like, and return to it occasionally, register it as an address. The Hotels could care or less, they just like being booked up. They have sex offenders from all over Florida and entire country stay with them often, maybe even most nights if they are a large and popular destination. I’ve considered listing multiple hotels when I do my six month registration just in case I do want to go spend a few days at one of them. If it is already listed, then I might not need to visit the Sheriff every time I want a quiet break from my work. Right? I could just go check in and already be OK by the law?

Changing hotels every 48 hours is a pain in the butt.

FDLE’s newest motion in our EPF+ challenge denies that this is happening, arguing that a registrant who travels more than once to the same temporary address, can make one report of that temporary address and continue to go there without having to make another report.

Any members who have been required, or know someone who has been required, to report that they are going back to that temporary address after a first report, are urged to alert membership@floridaactioncommittee.org or leave message at 833-273-7325 Option 1.

In Osceola, you not only have to tell them you are going each time, and how long you will be there, but you also have to call in by phone and let them know you are back home when you get back. Call “Anna” (the SO clerk) and check if you want…

I do not see anywhere in the statute where it says you can list a temporary residence one time and come and go as you please for any amount of time you want. That is ridiculous for them to say that in the lawsuit. If that were so I would just list everyplace I want to go in Florida one time at my 6 month registration, and never talk to them again about leaving home to travel around Florida.

You don’t need our sworn affidavits. All you have to do is call the sex offender clerks and ask what the policy is in the counties…. As I suggested.
The lawyers (or their staff) could easily do this by picking up the phone and asking each counties SO clerks and recording the conversation with approval if required.

They should have also included the recorded law makers views and statements on SO’s with quotations about how they are going to make Florida “scorched earth” for Sex offenders and all the other nasty comments that are on record as obvious punitive intent, and Ron Books and Lauras comments. There are many of them. One said we should make the font even bigger in red ink just last week, which is obvious distain and punishment.

How is it “bickering”? Just making very well thought out and logical suggestions seems productive and helpful. I would assume you are not going to get many, if any, SO’s to make sworn statements knowing the backlash they will face by LE. for standing against the registry. Most SO do not want more attention from LE than they are already getting.

Doesn’t it make more sense to use my suggestions instead and simply call the Sheriffs sex offender offices to see what the policies are and make note if it? All you need is one or two counties to verify and dispute the FDLE summary judgement claims to nullify their statements.

Why do I need a law degree to make that suggestion? Attorneys are not infallible and are only people trying to do the best they can. They can’t think of everything without help, especially since they are not experiencing the extremes of SORNA and need suggestions from people who are actually living with it.

You are being overly sensitive and ignoring the logic so as to not hurt the attorneys feelings or upset anyone.

Is it illogical to state that it is obvious that the lawmakers intent is to make the registry punitive by quoting their statements to make Florida “Scorched Earth for all sex offenders” and many other punitive statements they have made?

Is it illogical or impractical to state in the summary judgement that the attorneys have called multiple SO clerks and were told that each time an offender makes a legal temporary address they must register that address and also phone in when they arrive back home?

Come on, we are not children worried about getting our feelings hurt. This is a war on Sex offenders by the State of Florida. Anyone with honest suggestions that may help reduce SORNA should be listened to and appreciated, not silenced by the forum, because it will make someone’s feelings hurt, for making any reasonable suggestions.

FAC would like to hear from any members who have been arrested, or know someone who has been arrested, for Failure to Register (FTR) for conduct that was not willful and intentional, or who was not offered an opportunity to comply before being arrested.

FAC would also like to hear from members if they, or someone they know, has ever been arrested for failing to report a temporary address.

FAC would like to hear from members who have been required, or know someone who has been required, to report that they are going back to that temporary address after a first report, and who have been arrested for failure to do so.

Finally, FAC would like to hear from members who have been arrested for failing to register or report without the sheriff having first made “several attempts” to secure compliance.

If you have been arrested as a result of one of these situations, please respond ASAP to membership@floridaactioncommittee.org or call 833-273-7325 Option 1.

Jed, I asked if you were an attorney since you are opining on legal matters. Since you did not answer in the affirmative I assume you are not an attorney.

What I am humbly suggesting to you is to not opine on legal matters if not an attorney because your comment that Affidavit are not needed goes against the attorneys opinion working on this.

As to your comment that you are making “very well thought out and logical suggestions” I suggest you research first before concluding they are thought out and logical. You are not an attorney and I urge all to do as we are being asked and submit Affidavits. They will be used in our lawsuit.

I urge all to not be misled by “common sense” fallacies of non attorneys. As we all know most people thing it is “common sense” that a person on the registry should not live near or be near children. Those of us that do our research and are informed know this is not an informed opinion. “Common sense” is not informed, nor well thought out and they will not hold up in court. Urge everyone to do as FAC says and submit Affidavits if this applies to you.

Will not comment or reply any further on this as feel it is a waste of time and energy better spent on other pressing FAC matters.

            Thanks for clarifying this!

The law is confusing, and I did ask a couple years ago was told that one could list and address to return to it without having to go into the Sheriff office. I never tried it though.

775.21 The Florida Sexual Predators Act.—

            (k) “Permanent residence” means a place where the person abides, lodges, or resides for 3 or more consecutive days.

            (n) “Temporary residence” means a place where the person abides, lodges, or resides, including, but not limited to, vacation, business, or personal travel destinations in or out of this state, for a period of 3 or more days in the aggregate during any calendar year and which is not the person’s permanent address or, for a person whose permanent residence is not in this state, a place where the person is employed, practices a vocation, or is enrolled as a student for any period of time in this state.

I traveled back to Volusia a few times with no issues. After one I got a phone call a month later from the sheriff’s office asking if I was still in Florida. I said no I moved. The last said no, you were here for a week. I always have to register my travel here in my state, they forward information to Florida. She said I needed to make sure the hotel was an allowed address, and come in to tell them I’m there. The last time I went I was there just over 48 hours. I called prior to verify what I needed to do. The person said if I want there 3 or more days I didn’t need to call or come in. That trip has come and gone with no issues, so I assume I’m fine. But for more than 3 days, I need to see if the hotel is a good address, and appear to register. Not sure if anything beyond that because I’ve avoided having to do it.

Sorry but until FAC verifies this with a post I will not believe it or get excited. We have all had false starts before. Time to celebrate would be when an official statement is made by FAC. We have gotten our hopes up too many times then squashed when someone jumped the gun based on rumors. Not trying to rain on the parade but…..

Not even sure why FAC would post comments saying that until they verified and made a statement themselves? This is the foundation of legal memos and statements that leak or rumors and speculations float around. Let us hear from FAC on the matter then we can have some cake and celebrate.

What is the purpose in their minds for the red lettering? We already have the code on our DL that tells police or anyone else who needs to recognize a RSO.

Maybe they want the clerks at banks to know we are a RSO when we cash a check? Or maybe the waitress at Oak and Stone who needs to scan a DL to give us a Beer Wall wristband? Or maybe they expect us to walk around and show everyone our DL when they don’t need to see it.

Since most people in Florida can do their Motor Vehicle stuff online, except SOs, you probably had 280 RSO’s in line behind you. 😉

The lady who did my DL was nice, seemed happy to server another RSO and be very kind about it. You just never know who or what you will run into.

However…. I’m not a lawyer or an analyst or anything, but we’re not in the clear with the red lettering just yet. Senator DiCeglie’s amendment to remove the red lettering has to pass. The House passed the bill with the red lettering included. I’m slightly concerned that the Senate might just go along with the House in order to get it passed because we’re so late in the session.

A few months ago, I was driving on 436 in Altamonte Springs. I was behind an SUV that had a large window sticker that said, “Kill all sex predators.”

It’s one thing to make me drive with a green license plate. But my wife would also have to, and she has not done anything to deserve this. And what happens when one of those vigilantes see her on her motorcycle. With a full-face helmet, they wouldn’t know who is riding it.

As others on here have already said, this is not for the safety of the community, because our spouses and children would have to drive vehicles with green plates. It won’t make our communities safer; it will make them mush more dangerous. The people who need to know we are on the registry already have that information; this is nothing but punishment.

To even think of pushing this kind of extremely dangerous bill is reckless and foolish. And I would think that the first innocent person driving with a green plate who gets killed for having that plate would open the state up for one heck of a lawsuit.

If we end up with a 24 hour vacation stay with a 24 hour registration rule, here is my thought:

A few RSOs and families research and study a Florida family tour that visits 7 towns in 7 days. Maybe we could even have a tour bus with a NON RSO driving in the convoy. 🙂

We all check into our rooms, hopefully in decent resorts or quality tourist destinations. Soon as we check in, we go to the local registration place and check in for the night. Of course we have a scout already there that can verify they are open before we book our spaces.

We all meet and have a nice dinner, reservations previously made and making contact. Some go out dancing later, others chill by the pool or go to sleep in their unit.

We all get up, enjoy a nice breakfast and go to the Sheriff before we check out of the hotel or resort. Imagine checking out of the hotel, losing your room, and discovering the registration place is closed for the day!

Once checked out of the County, we check out of the hotel.

“Hope you come back in again! You were the best group we’ve ever had here!”

Oh yes, we’ll be back for sure. LOL

      Next town, be ready! 🙂

And I was just watching the news and Ron DeSantis was signing a new bill to execute sex offenders. None of us want kids hurt but the rules of the bill state that the child doesn’t have to die for the person to be put to death.

HB 1297, a bill allowing for execution of rapists of children under the age of 12 without jury unanimity, targets “very heinous sex crimes committed against children under the age of 12 years old,” DeSantis said.

Many of you people in Florida are doing a good job trying to handle this ordeal. This florescent license plate deal is a bit unusual in calling out sex offenders. Whether its Florida’s Government or any other government its a type of branding. Sure actions speak louder than words but FAC and many understand this oppression that is on many and is so wrong. Its more of an harassment and an underpinning and very unjust. This florescent is more of governments greed and a type of castration.

When government stops using wicked measures and makes up there own ticket that is no good for any government in any of the 50 states. so where does that leave principal.

Sex offenders already have so much to deal with . The one time offenders have learned their lesson and have to suffer for the rest of there life no matter what the offense is . Having the home address license plate number vechile already online it should be enough . Doing this green plate will do more harm having the person family friends to suffer. People will see that on the plate and can react in violence and vandalize there vechile . It is life threatening . Sex offenders having to register for life is enough . There drivers license is already branded . Two times a year they are checked by a detective as well as going to a place twice a year to check in is ridiculous. Sex offenders need forgivness . If they should have a plate as well so should thefts people with guns people who steal there houses cars should be labeled as well

You know if you are in Florida, have been off paper/sanctions for at least 20 and have not had ANY arrests since your 20 years started, you can hire an attorney and “Attempt” to get off the registry.

I guess you are new on F.A.C. About 2 months ago I wrote an entire story about Ron and he even came on and commented on my story. He is who I am looking to hire just have to come up with the $10,000. Have to borrow from my 401k and no guarantees a judge will let you off even with clear evidence that you have behaved for the past 32 years.
If you go back through some of FAC articles you will find my posting about Ron and the follow up he wrote as well. He always takes my calls and doesn’t get frustrated with me when I ask lots of questions. I still have some time left before my 20 years are up so I am hiding in a cave until then LOL

The Devil always tries to find a way to get us down. I have no guarantees I will be approved to get off but if I do not, it is going to be rough with all of these new laws that are so painful for us and our families, and yet, time and again judges state it is not punitive.

I have a great idea, let us have a judge come spend a week with us and not let anyone know they are someone of authority. They can come with us to register, stay with us as 3 or 4 cops or deputies come to our door and embarrass us in front of our neighbors when they state in a loud voice “OK make sure to register as a sex offender”.

I am S.O not predator but FDLE has been making me register 4 times a year and a huge amount of guys I have talked to at registration office say the same for them, they are S.O and also have to register 4 times per year. I spoke to two different lawyers and said it is in the statue that some charges for S.O can lead to 4 times per year. What is odd, I have been doing just twice for many years then got a notice stating I had to register 4 times per year and have been doing that now for about 10 years. That was from the FDLE and the sheriff’s office told me they just go by what FDLE sends them on each registrant.

I would like to reiterate something that was said in the past from F.A.C, NOT everyone who comes in here commenting is a part of us. Since it is an open forum (Other than the screening on comments) anyone can come in here making false claims.
I have not seen the person in here for a while now and do not remember their screen name, but that person use to come in here encouraging registrants to not register, not answer the door for compliance checks and other actions that could lead to an arrest.
Even F.A.C states they are not lawyers and for legal advice to check with an actual attorney.
Remember the old saying of “Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing”.
They rest among us in these comments so be careful what advice you take.
