CA: Two lawsuits filed to pause IN PERSON registration during COVID-19
The Alliance for Constitutional Sex Offense Laws (ACSOL) has filed two lawsuits asking the government to pause IN PERSON registration during the Coronavirus epidemic.

Would that also include registering rental cars and traveling for more than 48 hours?
This is in California – their laws are different than ours.
Yep, I just realized that. Sorry!
Would this case have any implications to other states? I also noticed NARSOL is also contemplating similar conjunctions in other states.
This would not – the California statute does not mandate that the reporting be in person and there’s a state-wide stay at home order there, so there is a distinction. We are also contemplating our own action here.
If a law is impossible to comply with, how can it be enforced? I don’t see a need to spend money on any action on a law that cannot be complied with, as it would be unenforceable.
Florida sheriffs can and do enforce laws that are impossible to comply with, and we are challenging those laws in Federal court.
Local media coverage of the suit emphasizes registrants’ side of the story, without comment from law enforcement, and even refers to them as “registrants” (not just “sex offenders” as you have usually seen):
