UPDATED: Advocates organize “Operation Pushback” in Denver.

Certain advocacy groups, including WAR are organizing a peaceful protest on Thursday, September 24, 2020, in front of the 10th Circuit Appeals Court building in Colorado. The purpose will be to protest the 10th Circuit’s ruling in Millard v Rankin. The message to the court will be that the registry IS punishment.

We originally re-posted the complete message from WAR, but after hearing from others, including the comments of the local advocacy group, we are restricting this post to information on who you can contact for more information (10thcirteam@warfamilyfoundation.org) if you are interested in participating in the protest.

Thank you WAR for organizing this. Demonstrating is the least we can do to make our voices heard. I wish we could host simultaneous demonstrations in all 50 states one day as a way to show our unity and numbers.

Interestingly, the American Revolutionary war was instigated for lesser reasons than the cause for which we strive. Liberty is a core American ideal and the struggle to regain ours should be a priority for every person affected by these laws, their loved ones, and those who support them.

I hope that everyone who can attend will do so. That’s important. With all the QAnon hashtag-save-our-children rallies popping up, it is important to have an event with a message based in truth, not outlandish conspiracies.

Just because the event is in Denver doesn’t mean it is just a Denver event. The 10th Circuit case is about the denial of the registry as a form of cruel and unusual punishment. And while the effort needs funds for supplies and whatnot, we also need plenty of protesters willing to stand in front of the building.

If you’re worried about being outed, wear a mask. You probably have to wear one anyways thanks to the ‘Rona.

I’ve engaged in (and organized) these events in the past and they’ve always been positive experiences. People ARE willing to listen when it is a face-to-face discussion.

The only issue of the potential of people NOT listening is the big controversy going now with the French film “Cuties” being shown on Netflix and getting a TON of backlash. Everyone is on the “everyone is a pedophile” kick. And people literally think pedophilia is a “law” that people break. I see comments saying “The left is trying to legalize pedophilia! It’s a crime!” No, it’s a condition much like any other condition of the brain. But when you try to say that, these GROWN, MATURE men and women resort to kindergarten insults. This is why I say the conservative right has a “group think/mob mentality” like anyone else. Good luck with this event. I just feel the timing is kind of off. And the timing for everything sexual offense related might be off due to this movie. 🤷🏻‍♂️ hopefully I’m wrong.

Many more protests and strikes are in order, until they get the point. Otherwise it comes down eventually to either mass disappearing or actual taking up of arms and rioting. Harck my words, it will happen.

The problem with sex offenders is their apathy. Derek has shown that he is willing to put all into the effort and is a rarity. Look at the events he has done. Usually only Derek and 3 or 4 people show up at his events. And he does this on his $700/month and on the registry. At his massachusettes event, it was only him and Gini despite thousands of sex offenders living within one hour of the event and he has a website with 1 1/2 million visitors to publicize his events. I hope they get better numbers in Denver with WAR being involved.
I’m not on the registry but tried to help people on the registry. I had a friend on the registry and we tried to get an organization going in Michigan. I spent $2,000 out of my own pocket and hundreds of hours sending letters to everyone on the registry trying to get meetings going. I own several houses and kept one open for meeting but had only one person honestly interested in showing. I bought a house I will be remodeling into an office and can dedicate the off hours of my office to meetings. But it is hopeless when I have only one person interested in meetings.
I received about a hundred responses from my original mailing. I went door to door to try to get persons involved in meetings. I got people telling me that they don’t want to “be on a list”. They are on the sex offender registry. There is no worse “list” to be on.
Derek is one of the very few people who is committed to the cause and deserves to be removed from the registry. All of the other sex offenders are good at complaining but short on action. I have come to the conclusion that 99.99% of all sex offenders are content being on the registry and deserve to stay there.
Derek knows me and knows I can house a dozen sex offenders tomorrow if need be. I have gotten no shortage of sex offenders seeking “free” housing but not a single one that can pay $500/month. I took out an ad for felon housing last year in PLN. I received nearly 200 responses. All but 3 or 4 were from sex offenders. Not a single one that can pay $500/month.
I have never been on the sex offender registry and have no plans of joining your lot. I am not affected by the registry. I only got involved because a friend, who has since died, was on the registry.
All I have to say to all of you sex offender whiners is good luck!!!

With the Registry not considered Pununishiment yet Parole considered Punishment, take the two, (1.the Registry and 2.Parole) before the courts and show the comparisons. The Registry far outweighs the Parole in punishment and in many and more ways has the same Punishments. Furthermore, Parole ends!!!
