Miami-Dade Sex Offender Homeless Encampment Reaches 250 People

FDLE

The shame of Miami-Dade has reached a new level. The encampment of homeless sex offenders living alongside the railroad tracks on the street corner in a warehouse district in Miami-Dade county has reached two hundred fifty people.

That’s 250 human beings who were once convicted of a sexual offense, no matter how serious or benign, many of which have served their sentence and are no longer on probation, are forced to live without shelter, toilets, or even potable water, all because of the Miami-Dade Sex Offender Residency Restriction (The Lauren Book Act), that prevents them from living within 2500 feet of a school.

For a densely populated county, such as Miami-Dade (the most populous county in Florida), that effectively banishes them from most of the County other than this patch of grass sandwiched between a warehouse and active railroad tracks.

A lawsuit, brought by the ACLU and on behalf of the Florida Action Committee, is pending in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (Case No. 15-14336), but relief, if it eventually does come, may not come soon enough! These individuals are dangerously close to the epicenter of the expanding area where Zika virus is being transmitted. Add to that the fact that they are left out in the elements and in close confinement,  the threat to their health is imminent.

I am thinking of spending Xmas at the Camp this year, and my question is who wants to join me?

It would be good PR to have a holiday event there for those not getting to spend time with their family members on Xmas and since i don’t have my own family, I’d like to spread some holiday cheer in Miasma (my name for Miami).

We can even leave some coal and switches with the Books.

That would be a good idea. I’d want to coordinate a media committee to see if we can get press.

Well, if I wasn’t confined to the county under this ridiculous rule of probation, I’d attend. (Fed probationers have an entire district of which they can travel, makes so much sense doesn’t it??) In any event, stop by in Jacksonville on your way there and I’ll provide the coal. And even though it won’t be Halloween, just throw in the flaming bag of dog poop on the front porch gig in for good measure!!

I understand the fear brought on by the Zika virus but you have to ask yourself Florida and the other southern states at one time had another insect carried killer called malaria how did they get rid of malaria within a 10 year period in the entire United States and Central America the answer is really simple they use DDT yes I know the environmentalists among you are immediately going to start to scream and shout but before you do that recognize that the ban on DDT was brought about by another government agency after all of the scientific evidence was presented and found that there was no need to ban DDT the decision was made by one man who didn’t even attend the meetings or see the evidence he was simply a politician before you make a decision I suggest you do the research and try to watch the movie “3 billion and counting” http://www.thenewamerican.com/reviews/movies/item/15588-documentary-exposes-the-horrific-human-cost-of-the-ddt-ban
