FAC Weekly Update 2024-07-01-Support House for Elderly

Dear Members and Advocates,

Florida Action Committee (FAC) partners with several organizations for community support and education, but the one that has benefited FAC members the most is Justice Transitions, Inc (JT).  A small, charitable 501c3 organization, JT has been serving as the Outreach arm of FAC for years. They have been responding to the needs of FAC members for housing placement, assistance with Social Security and Identity issues, and even purchasing work boots that would make the difference of someone having a job or not.  They have an interest-free loan program for rent payments, polygraphs, therapy classes, and other needs, giving the recipient a year (or longer) to pay back the loan at a few dollars a month so that the funds are available for the next person.  Giving back and helping the next person offers the borrower a sense of accomplishment and pride.  It is not a hand-out, but rather a responsibility that demonstrates their respect and consideration for others.

JT has expanded their services to include a support house for elderly registrants that need assisted living and care.  If you have ever tried to find assisted living or a nursing home for a registered citizen, you understand that it is a difficult or nearly impossible task.  Even when you find a place that is not concerned about their status, the location may be within 1000 feet of a school, park, playground or daycare center making it off limits, as though someone confined to a nursing home would be able to just leave and stroll down to a playground.  It is a senseless barrier for those in need of 24/7 personal assistance or medical care. The support house started by JT has given comfort to those who had no where to go for their life supporting care.

JT wants to start another support house and needs your help to raise funds.  They have a unique fundraiser that will not cost you a dime, but each participant has the opportunity to raise up to $120 for them during the month of July.  You simply need to to submit your opinion on products and services that you use regularly.  The program is called HundredX and it pays $1.60 for each QUALITY response.

Once you sign up, and select Justice Transitions as your charity, then HundredX will send text or email reminders that will stop once you complete 75 surveys or on July 30, whichever comes first.  You can opt to share your name or remain anonymous. Your name is only shared with JT to let them know who is participating in the fundraising campaign.  Each survey takes about 2 minutes to complete.  Take your time and provide a QUALITY response that will count.  Responses that appear to be quick and inconsistent may appear to be random and not quality responses and therefore may be omitted.

Click on the Flyer (Spanish flyer) for program details, and share the flyer will family and friends over age 18.  Here is how you can get s started:

  1. Text “FEEDBACK” to 90412
  2. or go to https://hundredxinc.com/impactwithfeedback-B
  3. or click on the QR code found on the Flyer

Do the math: 100 members complete 25 opinions at $1.60 each = $4,000 for the Outreach fund!  Let’s raise maximum funds the Outreach program that directly supports the basic needs of our FAC members.  For more information on Justice Transitions, email justicetransition411@gmail.com.

Other Reminders:

  1. We have a short survey regarding the temporary travel changes that are needed for the Ex Post Facto I lawsuit coming up in the Southern District Court.  Go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RKY5ZX5 to complete survey.
