Utah: Sex Offender Shares His Story with the Media
See an example of what happens when people forced to register on the sex offender registry get out there and speak to the media, even anonymously. In this case, a registrant spoke to the Utah news outlet KSL, resulting in more balanced, less hysterical coverage. The outlet also spoke to the Department of Corrections treatment director and accurately represented the recidivism rate.

I’ve put my name ( Allan Day ) out on FAC, I will be putting myself out in the media as a registered sex offender with a face publicly seeing they made it public wrongfully for the last 24 years. This article from KSL is exactly what I have said for many years. Treatment is essential if for nothing else to help a person to see a situation they do not need to be in. Relapse Prevention was one of the best courses I took in ADTC modern day “Auschwitz” to help me see a bad situation an change it. I’m not a stats type person because everyone is responsible for their own actions but the recidivism rate is lower then most any other crime. I was in ADTC when Megan was molested and murdered in New Jersey. I saw the hurt in these people who were victims of sex abuse as a child themselves. It brings back the memory of the man who had his hands on my throat because he feared I was gonna tell on him. Many of the people who knew this monster in group therapy all said they knew he was going to re offend. We are being punished today for his crime.
