    I’ve been on Florida’s registry for a decade as an innocent man with proof of perjurous testimony against me. But the innocent projects won’t take the case because it is a CP case and doesn’t involve DNA exhoneration.

      I feel your pain, I’ve been on it since Dec. 1998 an it was never to be made public record by judgement. Now, I’m coming out as the poster child.

    What is sewer shame is the average person that’s not part of our life that we live is just so ashamed of being ostracized for sticking up and helping out and changing the way people think I have some really great attorneys that I know that have the knowledge to help me out, but they don’t want to because it could jeopardize their careers sticking up for a sex offender and I also have to respect that they have families and careers. I just wish I had more money and a lot of more legal knowledge.

    [Moderator’s note: There are many good attorneys representing people for sexual offenses, including those on FAC’s Attorney Referral page].

    I think there needs to be a special court and legal system for all claims of wrongful CONVICTIONS just for sex crimes because I am certain there are more likely innocent people on the registry than any other crime even though sex crimes are the lowest rate of crimes committed.

    Can we create a blog of people on the registry for their claims of actual innocence and a way to submit evidence and explanation how they claim they are innocent. Seems that even innocence projects are biased and have emotions into it too and that courts need to stop convicted on states and he said see said or only on taking the stand.

    Creating a blog for people in the registry to have such a personal group evaluate innocence to create a class action law suit in a federal court to address the wrongfully convicted in each class will help write the wrongs and be able to close out more wrongful CONVICTIONS easier.

    I had no problem reading the article. Paywall was not a problem.

    This is way too common. The real problem is that there is no accountability for corrupt police officers and prosecutors who create these fake crimes against innocent people.

    I also didn’t commit the crime in 1991, and I’ve been on the registry since 1999. No case studies or articles about the innocent on the registry for some reason.

      @Ben

      I am not innocent but when I was sentenced in 1993 for a 1991 act, there was no mention of this new-fangled registry. I got no chance to bargain with that, go to trial, delay sentencing or anything. Even though “They” say it is not punishment, I am sure those who have been arrested once there was a registry got to at least plea bargain a bit on sentencing unlike those of us who were pre-registry.
      I sure as Hell would not have plead guilty with that looming over my life. At the very least, I would have tried to get a better deal and not just hand them everything they wanted.
