News4Jax – Source for false information
We’re always knocking News4Jax and their hack reporters for the fear-mongering stories they put out and complete lack of fact checking they put into their “journalism”. Last week we got the spooky fear mongering sex offender Halloween story. The fact that they put out a few of their annual stories perpetuating the myth that there’s an increased risk of sexual abuse on Halloween or committed by persons on the registry this day over all others, is not surprising. The bothersome part is that they conclude their story with the statement, “It’s worth mentioning that people who are convicted as sexual predators will remain on probation for the rest of their lives.”
Thanks to FAC’s Media Committee for posting some comments correcting them. If anyone else would like to contact the station, their information can be found here:

I followed this story when it broke Saturday morning. I was pleasantly surprised at the comments section on Facebook. Majority commented that it’s the parents responsibility to keep their kids safe or covid is a more pressing issue etc. It was nice to see some common sense on the thread.
Really helpful to see comments like this from those who are on Facebook, for the benefit of those who aren’t. And encouraging, given the hysteria we often associate with it.
I have been seeing an increasing presence of our Media Committee online, and this has been most welcome. The comments here really crush this article.
Thank you for recognizing that. And Thanks to our media Chairperson, Sarah. She is a rockstar!
I hope all will flood them with a comment. I did!
Well at least they got one thing right – Being listed on the SO registry is in fact actually being out on probation meaning that ANY LITTLE thing can be used as an excuse to lock them up as it is treated just like A PROBATION VIOLATION.
So yes – thank you for clearing up that being on the sex offender registry in Florida (and elsewhere) is viewed as the same thing as lifetime probation with all of the repercussions associated with probation (and actually more in reality)!
I posted a few days before Halloween how this holiday is the worst day for me all year, even worse that registering “BECAUSE” of the registry. I get all hyped up thinking my tires will get slashed, my house hit with eggs, etc (It has happened before)
I turned off all my lights and parked my vehicle to block the front door. When I woke up the next morning, I checked and had no vandalism or signs on my lawn or anything. I pray for protection every night when I go to bed but this one night of the year because of all the postings and social media seems to get the most rise out of people with kids.
AND, not everyone on the registry had a minor as an accuser anyway. I find it crazy that everyone seems to think everyone on the registry raped a baby in its crib or something or snatched some kid off into the bushes.
Take note news4jax, here’s what real reporting on SO issues looks like:

Not like this:

Spot on Floriduh is a despicable website. Weekly they “remind” the public about a “sex offender.” Legal or not, this is total B$.
That should not be legal. What is the purpose of doing that other than for boneheads to subscribe to the shaming tactics of mindless LE agents who need the proverbial pat on the back?
There is already the SOR website, what these jokers are doing by selecting a registrant each week to add to the humiliation should be challenged in court. And if I were the attorney to challenge it, I’d bring up the religious affiliations of these doofuses and ask them where their “forgiveness and redemption” is.
And before anyone of Christian affiliation gets twisted, remember this; YOU are not the one doing the shaming of others while preaching and worshipping the “word of god/Jesus”, it’s your fellow Christians in LE and your neighborhoods that are doing it. It’s the Christians who get fear mongered by this crap that need to be reminded of their faith.
Why isn’t this under the “Why is the registry punishment” section?
This ONE article alone is enough to prove Punishment, Punishment, Punishment.
If we were not on a registry, law enforcement could care less about us.
you. Mind the station contact the fcc and complain fake news
