Children of Parents on Sex Offender Registry Are Collateral Damage of Registry

There is not doubt that people find out about people who are on the sex registry. And that will include friends and acquaintances of their children. It is also true that many registered sex offenders have families and are not threats to society.

Hence, the damage to their children is real, because they are ostracized and condemned or shunned because of their parent.

This is a very difficult issue. There are, of course, true human menaces, and the point of the sex offender registry is to protect children and others from potential danger.

And yet, at the same time, the registry causes danger, or at least humiliation, to the registrant’s children and family and often to the registrant him or herself.

It is curious too. People who are arguably equally or more dangerous, like paroled murderers, home invaders, kidnappers, violent felons, burglars, manslaughterers, robbers, drug dealers, drunk drivers who ran over and killed someone, are on no registry and could live next door to you without your knowing.

Well said but unfortunately it will not be well heard. We have no voice because if we speak we get hurt. We cannot protest peacefully in public because we will be met again with violence possibly even shot. And no one would care. Another child molesters off the street. Let’s throw a parade for the killer! But the sad part is most of us never touched a child. That’s a fact. But the truth will never be heard or listened to. We are not judged by color or religion or sexual orientation but by a title put upon on us. ALL LIVES MATTER! Thank you for reading my ramble for I dont use social media apps because I’d have to register them all.

This is right on. Of all the threats in society, registered citizens are probably among the least. A family cannot be restored if the children are held in contempt by the neighbors. It makes no sense but then what in today’s society does?

in Sno Co Wa the sheriff lied for 35 years on the registry regarding my attempted crime. When he retired I got the evidence of him falsifying scoring done for levels. Immediately I was moved to a level 2 and told I should be a level one but if I continue to harass the sheriffs office they will move me to a level 3 as the law is arbitrary and gives the sheriff the right to do as he wants. I am a candidate for state office and already an two time elected precinct officer. Where is govt to stop this criminal behavior. My crime with a Directed Verdict is an attempted crime after I expose a judge, Gary Little, police and a minister, Donald Barnett of raping my child and 400 other children. Pay attention to truth! Your children depend on you!

Let us not forget the real danger to society people in power like shady grady Fudd who think they are perfect and have the ability and power to set up or aprove fake stings to create more alleged sex offenders ( to use they’re term ) and spread false statics and hatred , and fear of registered citizens. Then feel its ok to turn a blind eye or even offer thinly veiled praise when they are persecuted or assaulted.

Have you seen the comments on this article? Apparently they don’t care what the offense was, “sex offenders” should not procreate with people who have no criminal issues.

Now that I see the comments, I have given a couple of them a piece of my mind. Let’s see if they publish.

I see a mix of informed and uninformed comments.

I found this interesting. It’s about a Florida Sheriff who put a “Blue Lives Matter” flag on his own property. Not sure if FL is one of those states that posts “sex offender” signs on people’s property but the response from the Home Owners Association would seem to make doing that “illegal”…? “No lawn ornaments or free standing flag poles….” couldn’t it also be argued that a signage about a sex offender is the same damn thing?

The homeowners association sent a “violation notice” to Sean Kennedy that stated, “During a recent inspection, it was noted that you have an improper flag displayed on your property. While we support your patriotism, the American flag does need to be the traditional American flag. No lawn ornaments or freestanding flagpoles shall be placed or maintained on any Lot without the prior approval of the Architectural Review Committee. Please have this violation corrected within 14 days from the date of this letter. If the violation is not corrected within this timeframe, further action will be taken.”

I believe there is a Florida Law that states HOA cannot outlaw flagpoles provided they meet county/state regulations. There might be height restrictions from the State/County/FAA but that is it. A friend of mine ran into this with his HOA. They can, however, limit the flags you fly to probably the US and State flags.

Click on the blue word “source” above at the end of the FAC post. After the article comes up, scroll WAY down to the bottom of the page below the “about the author” section and you will see the comments.

Sarah, got it. I can’t believe all the comments, both negative and positive that the subject got. I will have to sit aside some time to read them all. We have so many people in society who are totally clueless about what makes up a sex offense. Mention the word and Jack the Ripper immediately comes into view. FAC, NARSOL, and others have a big job trying to educate a public that is so out of touch with reality.

in these times of troubles with people going nuts at China/statues /police and Asian people in time someone asshole will get the bright Idea of killing registered citizens as a new way to kill more and soften the blow in the public’s eyes

and the problem is the hit list is public knowledge
scary thought to know at anytime people will stop being nuts at the mention entities and direct their killing to RPs and families just saying this public listing of Reg citizens needs to be removed now

Think about a child having to worry about other children finding out about his or her parent being on the registry. Life and the internet are cruel enough, but this adds a whole new level to mental abuse for families related to an offender. The registry should not be public at all, period.

Wow, I read some of the comments from the article referenced. What amazes me are people who have had a family member be the victim of a sex crime by someone not on a registry arguing for the registry based on that when it had no effect. In addition, some are siting data not supported by recent studies.

“The best”? Can’t be, he didn’t include any of mine, lol.

To be fair, I said nothing particularly substantiative. I rarely, rarely put any studies, statistics, etc., on my comments these days. Not as “Will Allen” at least, lol. Will Allen takes a different approach. I’ve found that nearly ALL of the “people” who zealously support the Registries these days are dipsh*ts. Truly most of them are downright stupid. Certainly on these articles, that has been the case.

They are not interested in facts or reality. There’s really no point in arguing with dumb people. Will Allen is following the path of a lot of successful politicians – he is going to simply say “these are the facts, there’s no need to debate them, and I don’t care if you can’t comprehend them”. Over and over and over and over and over again. Just keep repeating it.

There are over 1 million decent people who oppose Registries and a regular basis. We can overwhelm the voices of the harassers/terrorists. When articles like this come out, a thousand people should just overwhelm them. Most “people” who zealously support the Registries are weak. If they feel like they are not being supported by others and it’s not PC, they’ll just change their minds like the sheep they are. Especially if they feel people think less of them because of their beliefs. Most have low self-esteem.
