Updated with correct link: Mother of victim speaks out, says James Fairbanks should walk free
“It’s unconscionable that they would think it would be okay to go and murder somebody because they’re on a registry,” said Vicki Henry, President of Women Against Registry.
Henry’s organization calls on state lawmakers to make the sex offender registry private. Henry believes the registry puts sex offenders, like Condoluci, in danger.
“The registry just does not help to protect people, two wrongs don’t make a right,” said Henry.
No he should get the same thing they do for all other murd ers all others that did killing even in late teens don’t get a second chance he wanted to kill him others didn’t plan to kill so he shouldn’t walk
He should be given the death penalty. This guy clearly premeditated this and he doesn’t even have the “excuse“ of killing someone who killed or raped his child. He’s just some random a-hole Who should actually know better because he’s in the middle health field. So no excuse there either. He should’ve gotten professional help when he started having these homicidal ideations.!
Link to the video no longer works, but I found another one just as bad on their website. I guess they have no problem advancing a dystopian view of justice, and calling it “righteous”. They might as well suggest throwing away this republic and instituting “The Purge”. At least in that scenario we would get to legally fight back… at a million strong, I’d say we’d have a good chance of making it.
Seriously though, what has modern society devolved to, that mainstream media is willing to post this kind of stuff? It’s a reflection of the hearts of the people. So sad….
Interesting how most of the people that take the law into their own hands regarding the sex offender registry or some of the biggest miscreants you will ever see. Not exactly paragons of virtue looking to make society better.
That’s right Joe. This small and very vocal sect may, in fact, be simply using this as a way to act out their violent tendencies, hoping to get away with it by brushing the blame off on the victim.
Interesting that it’s called justice by some to justify killing a person in the act of living a law-biding life… no crime in progress, not even threats or expressed intentions of such. Would anyone escape being subject to such a violent act under that definition? This warped view of justice is rotten from the inside out.
What’s worse, the victim can’t speak for themselves and neither will the news organization apparently permit anyone to speak on his behalf. There is an agenda being advanced here without question.
If voices of reason outside the registrant community don’t rise up to meet this threat, I don’t see much good in store for our country’s future. We may very well be witnessing the death of a free and just America.
Can you post the other link that you mentioned?
What happened to the original story? Did they have a change of heart and take it down?
Link is fixed, the video currently posted is the one I found.
Amen!
This is exactly why the registry is public. He was just doing what the local, state and federal governments wanted him to do for society. They will make this murderer look like the victim! Poor bastard was driven to “temporary insanity” by the guy he premeditatedly murdered! They will never make the registry private as long as it is working so well. Maybe he could use the stand your ground defense as well.

I Just called and left a voice message for Steve Lefler, the attorney for Fairbanks, the murderer.
Attorney Lefler’s phone number is (402) 342-4433.
My Question to Mr. Lefler was, “I just watched a video of you in which you called premeditated, first-degree murder a ‘vein of righteousness’. I was wondering if you have any further comment.”
I am going to look into making a complaint against him with the Nebraska Bar. I will include the direct quote.
Here is a copy of my complaint to the Nebraska Bar Association:

Hello:
This email should be construed as a formal request for your organization to conduct an investigation of Attorney Steve Lefler.
I make the following allegations, and provide proof in the form of the audio recording that is attached to this email.
On or about 5/21/20 Steve Lefler appeared in an interview in which he implied that the people of the City of Omaha, Nebraska do have a “vein of righteousness” that allows them to ignore and pardon a pre-meditated first degree murder.
He also implied that the people of Omaha would be quite willing to release a pre-meditated, first-degree murderer.
In both instances, the deciding factor would be whether the crime victim was a person required to register with the sex offense registry.
I am calling for this attorney to be sanctioned and counseled.

One More:
I just emailed the reporter asking for further comment. This is the text of that email:
to: Emily.tencer@hearst.com
Let’s just be clear about this: You sounded, in your report (https://www.ketv.com/article/james-fairbanks-officially-charged-with-first-degree-murder-of-omaha-sex-offender/32629767) as if you were condoning the premeditated first-degree murder of an unarmed person (because that person was a sex offense registrant).
Have I got that correct, or am I misunderstanding you?
Because if that is correct, then you seem to be advocating for some sort of open-hunting season on sex offense registrants. Can you comment further, please?
Personally I don’t think he’ll get the death penalty; but I could be mistaken. The Nebraska Parole Board royally screwed up when they let Nikko Jenkins out when he said he’d commit more crime. Less than a day and he killed 4 people in Omaha. I don’t think Douglas County would want a guy that took the law into his own hands off that easy or maybe I have to much faith in Nebraska!! Time will tell
People get arrested for enticing a riot. Why then can’t this woman be arrested for enticing murder?
They won’t give him the death penalty.
For one, that is rare even in some more extreme cases.
Also, there are all those ‘eye for an eye’ people out there who will cause a ruckus about him and how so-called ‘just’ he is for what he done.
Don’t be surprised if even a website is formed on his behalf.
This is how the world we live in is.
Everyone is a Judge wanna-be especially when it comes to sexual crimes.
They think that murdering a sex criminal is justified regardless of the motive.
They think ‘He got what he deserved! Hail the murderer! Let him go! The sex offender is dead!’
You are correct. Nebraska almost eliminated their death penalty a number of years back and the cases in which it can be applied are quite Limited. However, I am sure that if the shoe was on the other foot, there would be Howells from the public demanding that the evil sex offender be put to death. I am also pretty sure that if the prosecution really wanted to, they could find someway to shoehorn this case into a category where they could at least ask for the death penalty. Of course, they won’t.
Governor Pete Ricketts is why Nebraska still has the death penalty. While the legislators wanted to get rid of it; Ricketts was pumping his money into keeping the death penalty. Personally I think government officials doing that should be illegal. How come the state capital buildings look like sex Symbols? Nebraska’s capital building is referred to the p of the prairie sowing it’s seeds over the state. Maybe explains their obsession with sex.
