Fear Mongering Tactic

Kudos to our media committee for getting this point in the Daytona Beach News Journal

___

I just recently read the opinion article that was posted on May 8 concerning the subject of sex offenders — registered citizens. I was set back by several of Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly’s comments but especially his final comment on “safer Florida” and “accountable for their criminal deviant behavior.” His commentary is laced with ignorance, paranoia, fear mongering, lack of background and lack of education on the subject for a person in such a responsible position. Sex offenders are probably held more accountable than murderers, armed carjackers, home invaders, drunk drivers, robbers, etc. — you name it. The facts are that registered citizens have the lowest recidivism rate of all offenders and the vast majority of offenses are committed by individuals known to the victim or who are not even on the registry. It seems to be a habit of some who attain power to want to fashion laws to their liking and then complain when called on it. Changing a law to fit a past offense is called ex post facto, and is a violation of the Constitution. These fiefdom tyrants hate to be called on it, as was done in Hillsborough County. We would have a safer Florida if some of these law enforcement elements would stop going after easy targets and get the real threats off the street. That of course requires risk!

    Thank you, Capt. Munsey.

FAC members, make sure that you go to the Daytona Beach News Journal website through the link above. There was another interesting letter from a reader concerning Volusia County. The lady’s letter is just above Capt. Munsey’s letter.

HELL YES! Good job Captain Munsey! Sure hope you don’t live in that jerk’s county or have your lawyer on speed dial. You know how these corrupt people are (look at the White House!)

Take care Brother and thanks for taking a stand like that.

All true and well stated indeed!

Unfortunately as well all know safety has nothing to do with this. Public manipulation is what it’s all about!

Fear mongering is a classic principle of politicians. Created a problem (bogey man) then associate that created problem with children.

Once that is done who would dare not support the ever increasingly harsh punishments added each year to the list!

No – reality has nothing to do with this and change will not come until the state of Florida is FORCED to make the changes as they will never do so voluntarily.

Unethical politicians like Senator Lauren Book have made their entire careers selling those proven lies!!

We have an obligation to expose these tyrants…they themselves must have been abused children…for who and what they are. Some people just cannot handle authority. We see it frequently where law enforcement gets out of control. It’s almost as though they want to get their ‘errand’ over and done with so they can get back to their coffee and donuts. If they want to make an arrest and the individual has not broken a written law, then just make one up.

These law enforcement criminals are so pathetic. If they dream this protects anyone, they are idiots. If they don’t, then they are scumbags. Either way, they lose.

This is yet another awesome example of why law enforcement desperately needs defunding. When they are able to do this kind of nonsense, they have far too many resources available. This kind of “work” is so much easier than actually trying to prevent or solve crimes. Pathetic.

I did not see any way to post a comment about the article. I’m sure that is just how the LECs love it. They can run their propaganda without consequences.
