Volusia inmates forced to pay to talk to lawyers
The Volusia County Jail is prohibiting in-person visitations for inmates, as many correctional facilities have due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But one thing the Volusia County facility has limited that others in the area haven’t: The way inmates are able to communicate with their lawyers.
Attorney Carlus Haynes said he has to pay to talk to his six clients at the Volusia County Jail.
I assume Chitwood knows he is violating the Constitution, has justified it to himself and believes he will get away with it.

I see a lawsuit coming against Chitwood in the near future.
Good Day
Remember, in order to ‘Sue’ a Law Enforcement ‘Bozo’ in Civil Court, you have to get his/her Qualified Immunity removed by a Court, aka, a judge…..this is tough and has been done in the past, BUT is risky!
I am in the process of doing so…One is a LEO and the other is a Customs Border Patrol Idiot!…it has been a Rocky$$$$ road thus far…takes lots of Balls!
Thanks for posting this. When I saw it on yesterdays news, I knew I had to say something

How sad the attorney has to pay to see his clients at the Volusia county jail.
Disgusting. This guy just can’t hate on people enough. But the Feds don’t even let you talk to your attorney.
I would question the confidentiality of that county’s video conferencing as well.
First the jails try to convince folks that a phone call with video, often times of poor quality is the same as a “visit”. Knowing that it is not the same. Often times prosecutors are obtain copies of the recordings despite them denying. (Public defenders often times are aware of this). Then, to say, “A video visit is the same as an actual visit” and then to charge lawyers to “visit” clients! What a racket! Our national debt is to the China government currently. Perhaps Chinese investors can be encouraged to invest in the Volusia County jail! More Covid, more profits! Perhaps shrewd foreign investors from China and Iraq can build a portfolio of companies that profit when Americans get a pandemic of a deadly virus. Since this policy establishes a precedent allowing companies to profit from a deadly virus, perhaps this tactic can replace the profits made from placing innocent people into prisons with long sentences!
Years ago when I visited a friend in the Orange county jail where you were face to face but between plexiglass and used a phone, there were signs on the wall stating that conversations may be monitored.
You were warned if you said anything that could implicate you or another person, it could be used against you or them.
They stated it was legal because you were notified before hand that the conversations were monitored, so you had no expectations of privacy.
As is often said ‘Follow the money trail’ and you will find Sheriff “Shitwood” right in the middle of it. He is one of the ‘fiefdom’ criminal elements.
lol national debt. China owes us for being free and buying their goods to keep them with an economy and their people under control. Let them cut the tap off and collect their debt what they gonna do stimulate their economy with it make goods and haul them to the dump after making them?
Just now watching live broadcast of channel 9 news at 5Pm. After airing their story, Volusia jail now dropping the fee for the attorneys to see their clients. Sometimes we win.
