MD: lawmaker proposes banning student sex offenders from school campuses
A Baltimore County state senator is drafting a proposal to prohibit student sex offenders from school campuses statewide.
Baltimore County state Sen. Kathy Klausmeier on Monday said the bill would apply to registered sex offenders regardless of their age — prekindergarten through high school.
Not even FL has anything this boneheaded.
Yeah, but Florida has Ron and Lauren Book, and that’s pretty bone-headed. Oh, and Matt Gaetz. Can’t leave him out of the party.
Not yet!
Someone’s alerted FAIR, right? Our MD affiliate?
I am remembering the elementary school student accused of sexual assault when he hugged another student. Perhaps students can sign up for the missing elementary grades when they turn 18.
Yea. Stop people from getting an education. That’s an amazing idea. We all know education does nothing to help with recidivism right? I feel so stupid even commenting on this thread becuase it’s just so damn stupid. I dont even know what to say about these legislators and endless useless new laws.
Baltimore County state Sen. Kathy Klausmeier you are truly a bizarre person!
Based on Junk science.
Juvenile Justice at its Worse
So the lawmaker is proposing a life of no education failing at Society’s level of any chance of rehabilitation and ending up most likely a suicide?
Typical of mass hysteria brought on by uneducated media which produces unconstitutional laws.
Yes we need to protect students, classrooms and schools from predators but not by declassifying humans as second class citizens
Most sex crimes within schools and campuses nationwide are committed by girls and boys that know each other and have no criminal record.
The people we need to watch out for are overzealous politician’s trying to make names for themselves by proposing and inacting senseless laws that don’t work!
JEV-True Confessions
Anyone that has participated in the writing of this bill, has some serious issues in their life. They have thought nothing of the fact, that the registry lumps every offender in one class. We need to be more afraid of this type of person that is trying to add more punishment to those on the registry, then they are afraid of those on the registry.
Only in America
That’s just brilliant! (Sarcasm). Especially since most of those kids are registered due to CP, or “sexting” photos of themselves , or same-age boyfriend-girlfriend/boyfriend-boyfriend/girlfriend-girlfriend.
Another F’king moron legislator!! 🙄
This is what Megan’s Law has morphed into. This is bullshit and has NOTHING to do with the reason behind Megan’s law. Sorry but I’m not sorry to say that maybe a lawsuit should be filed by registrants against the Kanka family for all the fuckery they’ve caused. And I’m not going to apologize for this feeling. SUE THE KANKA’S.
And who says being on the registry isn’t punishment? This is just one of those steps to further prove that it is punishment. Denying an education to anyone should be deemed a Federal crime IMO, but it’s the actual officials themselves creating and allowing this to go on. This means no college and vocational training, no kindergarten thru highschool. Great job you MD dicks.
Tereto,
Please do not insult our male private parts by comparing them to lowly lawmakers. 🙂
I would compare them to what comes out a dog’s anus after eating wet, canned dog food. At least the ones who keep attacking us with new unconstitutional laws to make themselves look good on crime while tearing apart our families.
Some would say we tore apart our own families by getting arrested. Well, yes they did have to go through Hell because of us, but we have moved on and healed only to have the registry Nazis move in and put targets on our families.
When vigilantes burn down a house, it is not just the registrant inside but their kids, wife / husband, and maybe extended family and even our pets that could be harmed or killed.
They can say all the BS they want about my charge, but in the end, the actuality of it actually hurt noone. It is they who actually caused the damages that may have occurred, not myself. Asking a minor a simple question which is sexual in nature and them taking it wrongly by not actually paying attention, is what caused my charge to be deemed attempted solicitation of a minor. Not actual solicitation, but attempted in their own words, heck even the prosecutor wanted it reduced to a misdemeanor offense, bit oh no not the judge. My word vs the supposed victim, simple case, but who does a jury believe? It took 2 plea deals to finally settle for 24month doc with 1 year time served and no probation and withhold adjudication. Lot of good that did!
I think the judges forget the old mantra, ” Innocent until proven guilty” and just label everyone who comes before them as guilty until proven innocent.
Tried reading the article and said I had to create an account to continue reading. Having said that…….
Not every parent can do the home schooling thing if they are working so I guess the kid gets to stay home and play video games until he /she turns 18
I tell you, it is not that far in the future until they send us all off to a remote island like the U.K did with their offenders that become Australia, displacing the indigenous people.
Also, how come the law makers can make these retro active ex post facto laws but I was told when I tried to appeal my case, even with new evidence, that the time limits expired for appeals. Double standards much?
If this bill ever passes would this be the proverbial straw that breaks the camel’s back? Would this finally highlight to the world what is wrong with the Registry? Would this cause an onslaught of future lawsuits? Would this be taken all the way to the Supreme Court and finally be deemed unconstitutional?
Here’s a news clip showcasing these knee jerk politicians being all serious and self-important…thinking to themselves how this will get them re-elected.

Douchebags…
Bill
It seems there is no end in sight as to what lawmakers can get away with. No one at the top seems to give two shits about us or our families and loved ones.
Remember the Lepers ? Now that is us.
Remember the Scarlet letter ? That is us.
When I saw the people being sent to tent camps with the coronavirus, I immediately thought that could be all of us some day. Giant camps for all on the registry. Forced to plant potatoes to earn our daily cup of rice.
How can one possibly be rehabilitated when they are held down by so many restrictions, finding a job or a place to live is like trying to catch a fish in a dry lake bed.
With every piece of data we now have how are these bills introduced and not killed immediately
You notice 99% of the time it’s women who write up these insane bills. I am quickly loosing all respect for women in politics. There actions are all emotional not thoughtful. But then men blindly follow there lead . Like the Bible says , “blind following the blind both will fall into a pit”
Reason says all the girls he allegedly raped were close associates.
He was known to be a danger why wasn’t he already in reform school?
All his victims knew he was sexually aggressive so a registry would have changed nothing. As would the law that is being passed. And as far as thinking you can stop this from ever happening again, woman you are really delirious.
As for the fine ladies helping to establish reform that actually work , my comments are not directed at you. Just some women are a disgrace to the gender.
Don’t forget that like 99% of the time it’s women taking the lead in reforming/ abolishing registries, whether it be FAC, ACSOL, NARSOL, or Women Against Registry.
Well, maybe not 99%, but well over half.
International Megan’s Law was written by a man, and even just the other day, its author was bragging about how great IML is. Tennessee’s mandatory castration bill, I could go on. I wouldn’t draw too much of a conclusion about women/men legislators from just a few bad apples.
I do agree that leadership of FAC, including board members, committee chairs, and volunteers, men and women, are friggin incredible.
Jacob – Also in most cases (almost all) the men in advocacy are the perpetrators and the women are the spouse or mother of the registrant. That says A LOT!!!
Sarah – I don’t mean to call you out, but since you responded to DavidM’s comment and have been pretty open with the FAC community about your situation… you stood by your husband through incarceration and even picked up and moved your life to accommodate his restrictions. You’ve demonstrated that you are strong, committed and unwavering in your loyalty. That type of “ride or die” character does not fold under social pressure, take the easy way out or pass “emotional and not thoughtful” laws, as DavidM suggested.
And DavidM. The sponsor of the Jacob Wetterling Act was Jim Ramstad. The sponsor of Megan’s Law was Dick Zimmer. The sponsor of the Adam Walsh Act was Jim Sensenbrenner. The sponsor of International Megan’s Law was Christopher Smith.
FAC
Thank You for the facts.
My main point I was trying to make was not that women were in some way irresponsible and not capable of leadership roles , but rather that women who take up support and expansion of the registry are doing there gender a great disservice.
Many ladies on this site have shown great insight and bravery in making a stand for what is just. As men we can’t thank you enough because with out your support this fight could. Not succeed . It would simply be looked at as an egotistical mans way of looking at the problem.
I as a woman have to say you have made some very good points here. I never thought about the fact that so many of these insane laws have come from women. For years I have felt there is a small minority of very outspoken women who are trying to mess up everything for the rest of us: male/female relationships; freedom to be feminine; freedom from being drafted and having to fight in a battle as though we are men. I might get shot down for this, but I agree with everything you said.
Even though FAC, whose opinions I have great respect for, has pointed out that many of these insane laws have indeed come from men, I cannot help but think about Lauren Book’s new proposed law that is redefining the definition of rape — similar to what North Carolina did. I just checked the definition of rape: the crime of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their will. No where does it say that the person can be consenting and enticing throughout 90% of the act and can then at any time withdraw consent, thereby making it rape if the act does not stop immediately.
There are a number of things in this article I found interesting.
Why is a 21 year old still in regular high school? Most States have adult high schools for those who have not been able to graduate under normal circumstances. I think the age differential between a 9th grader (13-14) and a 21 year old is to large, regardless of the circumstances.
You know this is nothing more than an election ploy when she says, “lawmakers will stop this from ever occurring again.” The government nor anyone else has that kind of power mainly, because as we all know, the majority of the time it is a first time offender.
This will be ruled unconstitutional, at least as it is applied to those below the age of 18.
And finally, for the R=Bad and D=Good folks, Sen Klausmeier is a Democrat.
I agree with Alan, what the hell is a 21 year old doing in a public school ??
as far as the bill goes.. he was apparently dating this girl who was friend of his sisters, not just some random girl at school, so, even if he was not in the school, he still had access to her
and lastly … where the hell were her and his parents ?? there is no way neither knew they were dating. ANY parent who would allow a 21 year old to ” date” a school aged person is culpable also for allowing it.
Obviously his parents knew he should not be alone with any underage girl, alone, in his bedroom..
